Sony has announced that a new system update for the PlayStation 5 will go live on September 17, which adds a new feature to the DualSense wireless controller, as well as a new “Power Saver” option. Sony regularly unveils fresh updates for the PlayStation 5, improving the overall user experience, and this latest addition seems like it will make some gamers’ lives easier.
The PlayStation 5 was originally released in 2020, and it has maintained the spot as the best-selling console of the current generation. Recent reports have indicated that the PS5 has sold over 80 million units since its release. The number greatly outpaces the main competitor, the Xbox Series X/S, which has reportedly sold just above 32 million consoles in the same timeframe.

A new leak from the rumored Venom PlayStation 5 game suggests some good news for fans.
New PS5 System Update Adds DualSense Wireless Controller Pairing Across Multiple Devices
The newest PlayStation 5 update adds a useful feature, enabling gamers to connect the DualSense to multiple devices without needing to pair them each time. Previously, gamers had to pair the controller each time they connected to the console, PC, mobile device, or something else. With the change, up to four devices can be registered simultaneously on the same DualSense. To pair the devices, gamers should disconnect the USB cable from the controller, then press the PS button and one of the action buttons (cross, square, triangle, or circle) to enter the menu. Another useful feature added in the patch is the “Power Saver” for gamers, which will scale back performance to reduce the energy consumption of the PS5. The update will roll out for all users starting on September 17, and gamers can visit Settings, then System, System Software, System Software Update, and finally Settings again to install it if it does not start automatically.
Sony has unveiled few useful updates for the PS5 this year. Back in April, for example, the Audio Focus feature was introduced to the PS5, allowing users to boost some types of audio in games. Other patches, such as one released back in July, for example, only improved the console’s stability.
Apart from these useful updates, the coming weeks could be an exciting time for PlayStation owners due to new announcements. A new rumor started by the credible insider NateTheHate claimed that Sony could be preparing a new PlayStation State of Play for next week. These events are generally announced at the beginning of the week and then happen on Wednesdays or Thursdays traditionally, so it could potentially happen on September 24 or 25, featuring games such as Insomniac's Wolverine. Obviously, this is just speculation, so fans should take the information with a grain of salt.
