Gamers are reporting difficulties with using PlayStation online services due to an apparent PlayStation Network outage. PlayStation has acknowledged the issue with PSN and is working on a fix.
The PlayStation Network is the backbone of online gaming for players on the consoles, so when it goes down, accessing online games is often impossible. This can also have an impact on other PlayStation services, like viewing trophies or account data.
PlayStation Network Outage on 10/14/2025
Numerous reports began emerging at around 7pm PT on the evening of October 14 saying that players were having difficulty accessing their games, or were booted offline. The problem doesn't seem to be completely universal, as some players have had luck with resetting their consoles or trying again after waiting a while. Downdetector also reports that player complaints regarding the outage have diminished in the hours following the initial reports, but some are still having issues even now. PlayStation's website shows that the system is having issues, and that all gaming and social activities, including Challenges, Help, Game streaming, Touranments, and Trophies may be impacted. At this time, PlayStation Video and the Store seem to be unaffected.
Sadly, when this happens, there's not much more that players can do but wait. Booting up an offline game is one potential option, while others boot up different consoles or their PC to get their gaming fix in the meantime. With any luck, Sony will track down the issue or issues and get players back online without them having to wait much longer.
