The games below offer full-fledged gaming experiences for the headset, most of which would be more than enough for a non-VR title. Even if these games are longer than a usual VR title, players should still follow proper safety precautions and stop using the headset if they begin to feel dizzy or nauseous.

6 Resident Evil: Village

Resident Evil: Village did not launch with VR support. It came out before the PS5 had a headset of its own. Given Resident Evil 7's PSVR support for the prior generation, it only made sense for the sequel to receive compatibility later. The PS5's increased power meant its VR could support the larger areas of Village when compared to its predecessor.

The eighth main game in the series still provides intimate scares, but more enemies show up on screen and some bosses are notably large. The Lady Dimitrescu fight is a particular highlight in VR. The immersive nature of the format helps players appreciate the scale of her final form.

5 Demeo

12 1/2 Hours

Turn-based RPGs based on tabletop games might not feel like the best fit for PS VR, but Demeo proves there is an interesting experience in bringing the concept to the headset. The game is played from a top-down perspective, but it is the player directly looking down at the action instead of a camera placed above the play pieces.

The objective here is simple and based purely on combat, so do not expect complex dialogue and choice-making like bigger Western RPGs. All the same, the tactile nature of directly moving the pieces in VR makes Demeo feel unique despite its scaled-down nature.

4 Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution

The first chapter of this Walking Dead subseries came out on PS VR. Thankfully, it received a remaster for PSVR2 so players can enjoy the whole series so far on one headset. The graphics are not as detailed as first-person zombie titles like Dead Island 2 or Dying Light 2, but the immersive nature of VR heightens tension nonetheless.

Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2 is linear and the story is typical of a post-apocalyptic zombie world, but it all makes up for it with the gameplay. These zombies need to be taken out like a true George Romero zombie. It is all about puncturing the brain or shooting the head.

3 Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is no stranger to VR, having received a dedicated version on other headsets. The remake from 2023 also got a VR update for PS5, allowing for the whole game to be played with the headset. The graphics are gorgeous, and Resident Evil 4 is a larger adventure than Village with more enemies appearing on screen, making this an impressive feat.

Though the game still retains a lot of detail, players cannot interact with a lot of the game world. Even so, it is a big plus to play through the game in first-person with the headset. The more fast-paced gameplay when compared to Resident Evil 7 and Village still holds up in VR and does not become disorienting.

2 Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 is a racing fan's dream, bringing everything they could possibly want and expect out of a racing simulator on modern consoles. In PSVR2, the game shines even brighter. Nothing is more immersive than experiencing this gorgeous game through the headset. Only jumping into a real car for a live race could be more true-to-life.

While donning the headset, players still control the game using the DualSense controller, though a racing wheel is recommended for a more authentic experience. The detail and thrill of racing from the driver's seat in VR is also appealing to those who would otherwise have little interest in a racing simulator like Gran Turismo.

1 No Man's Sky

What could be cooler than exploring the cosmos in No Man's Sky? Doing the very same thing but in VR. The game is fully compatible with the PSVR2 headset. Though there is an objective and some guidance, No Man's Sky is open-ended and developer Hello Games regularly adds free content. Players essentially make their own campaigns and stories in No Man's Sky.

The ability to play the game in VR is itself a content update. Regardless of one's opinion on the game, the post-release support No Man's Sky has received is incredible, and a great example of how to ensure a game lives on after launch.
