PUBG Studios, the developer behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, has revealed a new online multiplayer game known as Project ARC, where teams of five battle it out against each other. The new PC game from the South Korean developer comes after the notable success of its previous titles like PUBG: Battlegrounds and New State Mobile.

Over the past several years, PUBG Studios has made a name for itself in the online multiplayer genre. Its battle royale games set in the PUBG Universe have had significant success in particular. The original PUBG: Battlegrounds enjoyed a positive reception and achieved remarkable sales figures when it first came out in 2017. In fact, the highly popular shooter game still holds the distinction of being the Steam game with the most concurrent players ever, with an all-time peak of 3.2 million, even seven years after release. The Krafton-owned developer now seems to be aiming to deliver another hit online shooter game with Project ARC in the works.

Project ARC is an online 5v5 shooter game played from a top-down perspective, as mentioned on its Steam page. It features "fast-paced gunplay" that takes a page out of PUBG: Battlegrounds's playbook. The PC title also encourages teams to execute strategies using "real-time shared vision with teammates" and "a variety of tools" to their advantage. Players must fulfill certain objectives using the various weapons and tools at their disposal to win the match. At the time of writing, there is no release date for publisher Krafton's forthcoming tactical shooter.

New PUBG: Battlegrounds-Inspired Shooter Game in Development

Similar to PUBG: Battlegrounds, there will be a wide array of weapons and gadgets to choose from in Project ARC. This includes pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, sniper rifles, DMRs, proximity mines, recon drones, flashbangs, and grenade launchers, among other things. On top of this, the game will have another combat mechanic in place called close-quarters battle or CQB, which involves the player disrupting the opposition's line-of-sight to be the first to attack. For success in indoor battles, the shared real-time line-of-sight among teammates will be key. Like PUBG: Battlegrounds and other shooter titles, Project ARC will also feature a mode where one team must hack into a terminal, whereas the other team must defend it.

While PUBG Studios builds its newest shooter game, it is also supplying updates to its existing games. Earlier this month, the devs rolled out a big PUBG: Battlegrounds update, adding new content and making certain improvements to the game. In addition to introducing new weapons and gear, the studio also made changes to PUBG: Battleground's matchmaking and tweaked a few other gameplay elements in the update.
