A spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei games that first branched off from the main series in 1995, the Devil Summoner games are all built around the Kuzunoha family and their associates, who are paranormal detectives of sorts who use their summoning powers to help them deduce supernatural mysteries. The third of five games released between then and 2022, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army was originally released on the PlayStation 2 and serves as a prequel to the first two games, taking place in an alternate 1931.

As revealed at the end of March, the classic Devil Summoner game is getting a remaster that will arrive on June 19. A new trailer released for the game shows off its visual upgrades, which are to be expected after nearly 20 years and three console generations of advancements, and they look appropriately modernized, with crisper imagery, a much more vibrant color palette, and ambient effects. However, there are other modernized additions on display, like voiced character lines and more fleshed-out environments. Along with these, Atlus has also made navigating the game easier through the addition of a quicksave feature that can be used at any time and an upgraded objective tracker for clarifying players' goals.

Devil Summoner isn't the only spin-off series of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, and fans who have become enamored with Atlus' work over the last decade can credit the emergence of many of those games to a different spin-off title. Sales of Persona 5 hit more than 10 million copies between its launch in 2016 and the end of 2023, paving the way for several of its own spin-offs, remasters of other games in the Persona series, and other Atlus RPGs like last year's Metaphor: ReFantazio.
In addition to its upcoming arrival on PlayStatrion 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army has also been confirmed as a Nintendo Switch 2 game. It will miss the launch of the highly anticipated console by a full two weeks, but its inclusion in the Switch 2 catalog could provide a big boost of support to Atlus.
