  • Ubisoft's efforts against cheating in Rainbow Six Siege have shown positive results after Y9S3 launch.
  • Mousetrap detection performance has increased, while bans peaked at 11,000, and then dropped to 9,500 by Y9S3.
  • Updated reputation system and automated text chat moderation coming to Rainbow Six Siege in Y9S

Ubisoft has shared a promising update on its ongoing efforts to combat cheats and toxicity in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. The company previously acknowledged that these issues intensified during Rainbow Six Siege's ninth year.

In February, Ubisoft assured the Rainbow Six Siege community that it would reinforce the popular and beloved tactical shooter's player protection systems. Highlighted by the media giant at the time were improved ban enforcement and technologies like MouseTrap, a solution for consoles that detects mouse and keyboard use. Ubisoft has now provided a new report on how its anti-cheat and anti-toxicity systems in Rainbow Six Siege have performed recently.

Rainbow Six Vice President Cameron Lee, who was responsible for the long-term brand strategy for the franchise, reportedly leaves Ubisoft.

While cheating continues to affect players with high ranks, the issue subsided following the launch of Y9S3, Rainbow Six Siege's latest season, in September, Ubisoft said in its latest Player Protection Update. Cheats were down for nearly an entire week after the season started and there was also a sharp drop in cheater reports from players during this period, according to the post. Moreover, Ubisoft noted that Mousetrap saw an increase in detection performance and a decrease in false positives thanks to a recently released update. The company added that overall bans in the previous season peaked at more than 11,000 before tapering off to a little below 9,500 by the time Y9S3 launched.

Rainbow Six Siege October 2024 Player Protection Update

Ubisoft is currently trying to complete MouseTrap tests for devices that have yet to be recognized by the system. The company is also working on the release of PC and console crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege for next season, as well as this feature's particular implementation of MouseTrap. Meanwhile, a new version of the custom-built QB System, a technology designed to make the creation of cheats more difficult, is being trialed by the development team.

A reworked reputation system is set to be implemented in Rainbow Six Siege when Y9S4 goes live sometime in December, alongside automated text chat moderation. The former will take into account both positive and negative player ratings, reports, penalties, and even communication-related actions, among other things.

Rainbow Six Siege’s latest Player Protection Update comes just days after the title received patch Y9S3.3 on October 22. This small patch made changes to Iana, Jackal, Kali, Mozzie, Zero, and Zofia. It also tweaked the bullet parameters of Kali's CSRX-300 and delivered a list of bug fixes, including one that affected Skopos, Rainbow Six Siege's newest operator. The next season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will not feature a new operator, but it will rework one of the American characters.
