Rainbow Six Siege recently released a trailer showing off a crossover with the Payday series. The game has consistently maintained a large player base and remains one of the most played games on Xbox. Rainbow Six Siege has also maintained an average of over 50,000 players on Steam in the past few months, and streamers like Jynxzi have been streaming the game to tens of thousands of viewers.
The Payday series, however, has been going through some tough times since the latest game launched to a lukewarm reception. But in July 2024, the player count jumped for Payday 3 after a large content update was released, adding a new heist and highly requested features. With the new Rainbow Six Siege collaboration and the new update, things may be starting to turn around for the Payday franchise.
Payday 3 Offline Mode Comes With a Big Catch
After months of backlash, Payday 3 developers confirm the highly-requested offline mode is coming to the game, albeit with one major catch.
In a trailer released on official channels, Rainbow Six Siege showed off a new cosmetic bundle for the operators Wamai and Zero featuring popular Payday heisters. Zero dawns an outfit inspired by Dallas, and Wamai has his own outfit as Chains. Each operator wears the iconic mask of their respective characters, hiding their faces from the player. The trailer also shows off new gun skins for each operator, with the respective Payday character’s name drawn on their guns. The bundle is available now and costs 4080 credits, or separately for each character for 2160 credits. This crossover is one of several Payday has done in the past, with previous games in the Payday franchise also having their own major collaborations.
Dallas and Chains Join Rainbow Six Siege As a Cosmetic Bundle
Rainbow Six Siege has been named one of the best Tom Clancy games, furthering the legacy of the famous novelist they have been named after. Released in December of 2015, the live-service game has been around for almost nine years since its inception. The game originally started with eight operators, and there are now 71 operators in the game if you don’t count the recruit, with more coming each season. There are more than several dozen operators for each side of the game, from attackers to defenders.
The collaboration between Payday and Rainbow Six Siege might renew further interest in Payday 3 as it introduces more players to the franchise. Rainbow Six Seige has done crossovers like this in the past, with a collaboration with Dead by Daylight being one example. These crossovers expose the IPs to the large playerbase Seige has, creating a mutual benefit for each franchise.
