Rainbow Six Siege X recently released the Operation High Stakes update and added a slew of new features to the game, from a brand-new operator to overhauled maps. This is the third seasonal content refresh delivered by Rainbow Six Siege X's developer, Ubisoft Montreal, in 2025.
Despite rolling out a decade ago, Rainbow Six Siege, now known as Rainbow Six Siege X, is showing little to no signs of slowing down. Leveraging its regular content updates and strategically timed free-to-play periods, the tactical FPS has also maintained a reasonable level of player interest throughout its run. In June 2025, Rainbow Six Siege X breached the 140K mark in terms of concurrent players on Steam, thanks to its second seasonal update of the year and its big 10-year anniversary makeover. Now, the devs have kicked off yet another season of the online shooter to reinvigorate player engagement.
8 Best Changes Introduced In Rainbow Six Siege X
Rainbow Six Siege X brings new lighting, audio, operator bans, improved destruction, and fresh game modes to shake up tactical gameplay.
On September 2, Ubisoft shipped Rainbow Six Siege X's latest season, Operation High Stakes, across all platforms. This update was headlined by the inclusion of Denari, a new Defender type operator. Alongside his arrival, the T.R.I.P. Connector ability, which lets the player set up lasers that injure enemies upon detection, also became available. The Dual Front mode, which was introduced with Rainbow Six Siege X's launch, now also offers players a new assignment called Keres Safe Room, which requires teams to successfully complete data extraction in a locked-down server room. Moreover, the new update brings certain upgrades for the Consulate, Lair, and Nighthaven maps, incorporating Destructible Ingredients into them and improving aspects such as lighting, textures, and materials.
Apart from the aforementioned additions, a number of balancing changes have also made their way to Rainbow Six Siege X. First off, Blackbeard's versatility and area-denial capabilities, in particular with frag grenades, have been nerfed. Notably, this Attacker type operator can no longer aim down sights or break undamaged barricades in certain rappelling scenarios. On the other hand, there are new loadout additions for certain Rainbow Six Siege X operators, such as Wamai, who now has the Super Shorty in his loadout. While the Reaper MK2 has been given a recoil buff, other changes have made throwing projectiles from behind the Ballistic Shield riskier for players.
Following Rainbow Six Siege X's impressive launch performance, the devs surely hope its newly released season will keep the momentum going forward. Given that the Operation High Stakes update is also one of the first content drops for the revamped game, it could prove to be crucial towards building the foundation for Ubisoft's long-term plan for the Rainbow Six franchise.
