Summary
- The Paradigm skin briefly appeared in Fortnite's shop before disappearing.
- Fans who bought The Paradigm during the glitch can keep the skin, and their V-Bucks will be refunded by Fortnite.
- A new variant of The Paradigm will be created for those who purchased the original outfit, offering a unique opportunity for players.
Fortnite's Paradigm skin returned to the game's shop for a short time, then vanished. Fortnite continues to grow an expansive market for its games, characters, and items. Much of that has been achieved by adding to the ongoing story and chunks of lore that get pieced together each season. Although Fortnite doesn't follow a plot at the same pace that linear games like The Last of Us might, sometimes large developments do take place involving important characters.
One of these characters is The Paradigm. The Paradigm is a member of The Seven, a group of characters introduced to the game in Season 4. This was back in 2019, and although Fortnite was popular back then, it didn't have the same all-encompassing appeal it has now. The Seven was a group that was determined to protect Fortnite's Zero Point, and The Paradigm, its pilot, played a part in the creation of the map that was used in Chapter 4 of the game.
Disney D23 Fortnite Reveals to Stream Exclusively in Fortnite
Disney announces its upcoming D23 parks panel will be streamed exclusively in Fortnite, the first major project since the partnership was announced.
The Paradigm showed up on the Fortnite shop for 15 minutes, then went back to being unavailable. The development team shares that it accidentally made the Fortnite skin available for a short amount of time "due to a bug." Originally, the team had planned to remove the skin from the Lockers of any player who purchased it, adding the reasoning that The Paradigm was intended as a limited-time skin that was exclusive to Chapter 1 Season 10.
Fortnite Owns Up To The Paradigm Mistake
Some fans were not happy with the reasoning given, stating that Fortnite's team messed up, and that people may have spent money on V-Bucks solely for The Paradigm skin. Shortly after that back-and-forth, the Fortnite team reversed its decision, sharing that fans can keep the skin. The rationale used echoes what the fans stated, emphasizing that the mistake was the team's, not the players'. Additionally, the V-Bucks spent on the purchase will be refunded. It seems ironic that this mistake and decision happened shortly after Fortnite announced a change to the exclusivity of future items.
The Fortnite team continued, saying that it intends to make a new variant of The Paradigm unique to players who purchased the original outfit and that those players will be given a refund of the item regardless. It appears that an array of players lucked out by noticing The Paradigm and grabbing the skin when they had the chance. It is unknown if there are any future plans for The Paradigm to make a return to upcoming seasons of Fortnite. Mistakes like this don't seem to happen particularly often either, so this can be considered a unique moment for Fortnite.
