On May 27, 2020 Fortnite's rarest skin, Recon Expert, made its first appearance on the Item Shop since November 2017. Now many players will have access to Recon Expert, and that means that a new rarest skin in Fortnite must be crowned. Indeed, shining some light on the new rarest Fortnite  skin is the exact purpose of the article, and players can find full details below.

Before diving into the rarest skin in Fortnite, it is important to fully clarify that what is being considered here is when an outfit last appeared in the Item Shop. It is also worth noting that Season Shop skins like Ariel Assault Trooper and Renegade Raider are not being considered, and while this methodology is certainly not perfect, it is what Fortnite  players used to previously define Recon Expert as the rarest skin. As such, that is the approach that is being taken in this article.

With that established it can now be said that the rarest Fortnite  skin as of May 27, 2020 is Midnight Ops, and it has not been available in the Item Shop since October 24, 2018. This outfit features a black suit with a red scarf, and the avatar sports a Mohawk, a mustache, and a beard. Here is an image of Fortnite's Midnight Ops skin for players that are curious to see it:

To note, the Midnight Ops skin is not just a random design, and it actually has a connection to Paragon, a MOBA from Epic Games that shut down its servers in April 2018. Specifically, this Fortnite  skin is based on one of the game's heroes, TwinBlast, who used pistols and grenades to get aggressive. While this will not matter to all players, the connection to Paragon may give the new rarest skin in Fortnite  some additional appeal and make it even more desirable to fans that are interested in collecting hard-to-find cosmetics.

With respect to other rare skins in Fortnite, Diecast and Far Out Man, which were both available last in November 2018 lead the pack. These are followed by Brilliant Striker (last seen in December 2018) and Radiant Striker (last seen January 2019), which round out the top five rarest skins in Fortnite  at this time.

Fortnite  is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
