The next project from Ubisoft in the Rayman series has apparently leaked, as a potential game project has already received an age rating despite not officially being revealed by the company. The leak corroborated previous rumors about Ubisoft and its plans for Rayman's 30th anniversary, despite the occasion already happening back in September 2025.

The news about Rayman's return came amid a tumultuous time for Ubisoft. On January 21, Ubisoft announced a major shift in its operations and canceled multiple game projects that were in development. The biggest casualty of Ubisoft's restructuring was a highly-anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was stated to be near completion when the developer pulled the plug. Although it was not canceled by Ubisoft, a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was instead delayed. The fallout from Ubisoft's changes also had a negative impact on its bottom line. On January 22, Ubisoft's stock price fell to its lowest point in nearly 15 years.

Ubisoft reportedly faces more internal turmoil, with employees said to be openly criticizing management following recent restructuring.

Rayman Could Be Getting a 30th Anniversary Edition Game

Although rumors about Rayman's return have been a persistent topic over the years, some new evidence could lend credence to the idea. According to a rating posted by the Australian Classification Board (ACB), a game titled Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition could be headed to the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles. The classification was dated January 22, 2026, just days after Ubisoft's controversial restructuring. Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition was rated G for General, with an additional tag that said the game could feature very mild degrees of violent content. The ACB's G rating is roughly the same as the ESRB's E for Everyone rating. The ACB's rating also lined up with those that past Rayman titles have received over the years. But, given that Ubisoft has not officially revealed any information about the Rayman series, rumors about a potential 30th anniversary game should be taken with a fine grain of salt.

Interestingly enough, the developer and publisher listed by the ACB was Atari rather than Ubisoft, with the rating application filed by U&I Entertainment. In short, Atari has worked with other companies on franchises that it doesn't own. For example, although the Mortal Kombat IP is owned by Warner Bros., Atari was listed as the publisher of the fighting game compilation Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, with Digital Eclipse handling its development. As for U&I Entertainment, the company has worked with Atari and Ubisoft in releasing physical copies of various games. Ergo, the ACB rating could be for physical copies of Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition that may be distributed should the game make it to market. No other details about Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition could be gleaned from the ACB's post.

The rating corroborated past reports from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, who stated that two Rayman game projects were in development under the code names 'Iceman' and 'Steambot.' Henderson later responded to questions about Rayman' s 30th anniversary project on X, and said that he believes that it is a single game rather than a trilogy. Previous rumors stated that 'Steambot' was the code name for a remake of Rayman Legends, a title known for having 1,000,000 collectible items. Ergo, the 'Iceman' code name is a likely guess for Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition. Henderson added that the game could be released "very, very soon" though it remains to be seen how soon that could be.

In the meantime, fans looking to play a Rayman game on a current-gen console are in luck. In December 2025, the Nintendo 64 app for Switch and Switch 2 received an update that included Rayman 2: The Great Escape as an exclusive perk for Switch Online users with the Expansion Pack upgrade. However, time will tell whether the rumors of Rayman's potential comeback will be proven true.
