In an ideal world, arming Leon S. Kennedy with all the powerful weapons in the Resident Evil 4 remake will make his mission so much easier, but sadly, the odds are usually stacked against the hero. However, that is not to say the power fantasy is not going to come true, but players will have to put in some work before Capcom allows them to run loose.

One of those almighty weapons in the game is the Handcannon, and for players hoping to nab one for their collection, this guide has all the important information on how to obtain the Handcannon in Resident Evil 4.

Adding the Handcannon to Leon's arsenal in Resident Evil 4 is no cakewalk. Indeed, the powerful magnum requires plenty of hard work from the player before revealing its presence.

First, players will need to complete the game once in order to unlock Professional Mode. After that, they will have to start a fresh save file on this difficulty, so no carrying over any items whatsoever. To spice things up even further, players cannot use any of the bonus weapons available in the game.

If those requirements are met, the Handcannon will be unlocked in the bonus content shop, which will cost a further 1,000 CP to unlock. This should be easy enough if players have already completed the game once and have done so again on Professional difficulty.

The Handcannon packs a punch even at its base level and can then be further upgraded to increase its Power, Ammo Capacity, Reload Speed, and Rate of Fire, just like any other weapon at Leon's disposal. However, the costs involved are quite heavy and will require significant investment to reach max level. That said, its exclusive upgrade allows players to tap on unlimited ammo, so maybe consider spending some Spinel for that exclusive upgrade ticket to make the most out of the Handcannon.

Armed with arguably one of the best weapons in the game, running through Resident Evil 4 again will be a fuss-free affair that not even the Las Plagas parasite can ruin.

Resident Evil 4 (2023) is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
