The Mirrorgun, also occasionally referred to as the OptiWand by the community, is the premier intel-gathering tool in Ready or Not. It is essentially a camera on a stick that lets players clearly see what's hiding behind a door without having to open it.
Tactical Shooter Ready or Not Loses Publisher After Promising School Shooter Mission
Ready or Not, a tactical shooter that puts players in the role of SWAT members, loses its publisher after promising a controversial mission.
Using the Mirrorgun is pretty simple, though players new to Ready or Not might not know how to deploy it properly. Here's a quick guide covering the basics of using this ode to the classic SWAT 4 OptiWand, as well as some other important things players need to know about it.
How to Use the Mirrorgun in Ready or Not
To use the Mirrorgun, all you need to do is point it at the bottom of a door until a contextual prompt appears. Then, press LMB to slide the Mirrorgun's camera through the gap in the floor, and you'll automatically start viewing things from the gadget's perspective. The camera can be panned only to a limited degree, but this is enough to let players see if there's a grenade attached to a tripwire by the door frame.
You don't strictly have to use the Mirrorgun to see what's behind doors. It can also be used to safely peek corners. This tactic is especially useful when the squad is pinned behind a door, and a suspect is shooting at them from an unknown angle. Think of the Mirrorgun like a periscope, and you'll unlock a whole new world of possibilities.
Keep in mind that the Mirrorgun cannot be used on all doors. You can't use the camera to see through doors that have the gaps beneath them covered. If the contextual prompt on doors does not appear, you'll have to get information on the room through other means.
Players don't necessarily need an OptiWand to complete a mission, especially if the scenario calls for it. Active shooter situations demand speed and efficiency above all else, so it might be better to bring in a shield instead or rely on superior breaching tactics.
There are no real downsides to bringing a Mirrorgun apart from slowing the team down. Players can use it as much as they like when on a mission, and the only things they should be aware of are doors with see-through glass windows and the possibility of there being armed gunmen on the other side. AI officers can also use the Mirrorgun, and they'll report if they see any suspects with it.
