The Seattle Seahawks’ Legion of Boom has reunited to test their skills in the popular game Ready or Not, creating some memorable highlights along the way. The elite group of former football players also learned some real-life SWAT tactics that they could implement into their Ready or Not gameplay.

While Ready or Not was originally released on PC via early access, the game found an even bigger audience this year. On July 15, developer VOID Interactive brought the game to consoles, giving fans on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 a chance to check out the tactical first-person shooter. With generally favorable reviews from players, Ready or Not stood out by featuring realistic gameplay scenarios in which SWAT units must deal with crime in the Los Suenos area. During gameplay, players have to address various dangerous situations, with the game’s realism meaning that only a few bullets are often the difference between life and death.

Seattle Seahawks' Legion of Boom Reunites to Play Ready or Not

Recently, the legendary Legion of Boom from the Seattle Seahawks took on the challenge of playing Ready or Not to see how their teamwork would translate into the tactical shooter’s tense gameplay. However, they had the chance to learn some real-life SWAT tactics before jumping into the game. Thanks to the expertise of professional SWAT training instructor Rick Anzalda, Legion of Boom, made up of Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril, Walter Thurmond, and Michael Bennett, took part in a simulated operation similar to the kind found in Ready or Not. While there were some hilarious mishaps along the way, the Legion of Boom members found out about some of the ins and outs of SWAT tactics and procedures, such as breaking in a door and what to do in a “non-winnable event.”

With the knowledge Legion of Boom gained from their real-life SWAT training, they then tried to use that to their advantage in the intense gameplay situations of Ready or Not. Losing their helmets and donning headsets, they worked as a team to clear rooms as they had practiced with Anzalda. While their first attempt resulted in an F grade due to an unfortunate death, they managed to come back with an A grade afterward. When talking about the experience, Cliff Avirl discussed the necessity of team play as one of Ready or Not’s strongest points.

This recent challenge featuring the Seattle Seahawks’ Legion of Boom comes as Ready or Not continues to attract many players on platforms like Steam. In addition, VOID Interactive has confirmed that the game has been popular on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 since its launch on those platforms. As of September 8, Ready or Not has been played by three million console players. Impressively, the developer noted that this number exceeds 13 million when factoring in PC, where the game first started out. It is worth stating that the game is not a free-to-play title, making the number of users even more impressive.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the first-person shooter as the gaming industry heads toward 2026. The latest notable Ready or Not update in September fixed a wide range of issues players had encountered and made improvements for console and Steam Deck users. Additionally, a major content update dropped in July that added missions and weapons to enhance the experience. With Ready or Not continuing to gain the attention of gamers, such as Legion of Boom, it seems the demand is there for even more content in the coming year.
