The Dorms map in Ready or Not's Home Invasion DLC offers a unique challenge — it has both close and long-ranged sightlines, and there are plenty of sneaky angles where players can get shot from. It's a tricky level to complete, but with enough patience and know-how, players will be able to get a perfect rating for it nonetheless.
While this mission is definitely one of the harder ones in Ready or Not, completing it with a high rating is far from impossible. The following guide covers all the important bits of the Dorms map, including all soft and hard objectives as well as some general tips on how to make your run a little bit easier.
Ready Or Not: Best Weapons, Ranked
The best weapons in Ready or Not range from all categories of guns, but which of them will see players survive the challenging hostile encounters?
Ready or Not Dorms - All Objectives
The Dorms map is similar to RoN's Twisted Nerve mission in a lot of ways. Both levels are set in a rundown building full of junkies, and drugs are involved one way or another. Expect to fight in very close quarters with little room to maneuver, but don't discount the long hallway in the first floor.
- Bring Order to Chaos - Arrest or neutralize all contacts at the scene
- Rescue All Civilians - Restrain all unarmed civilians
- Arrest 5 Suspects - Restrain suspects without killing them
As far as objectives go, Dorms resembles your typical police raid — go in, control the situation, pacify all threats, and secure all civilians. However, the objectives aren't the problem, it's the map layout.
The building is full of dark areas and wall holes that armed suspects can hide and fire from. All those little murder holes in the walls in particular can be a huge problem, since they diminish the effectiveness of tactical grenades. For this mission, we recommend bringing a shield and/or CS gas — have your pointman block incoming bullets, and if there are any armed suspects in a room, chuck some tear gas inside. Gas should bypass broken walls and affect anyone hiding behind them.
As always, if you're bringing CS gas, don't forget to wear a gas mask. Also, consider using a weapon equipped with a scope for long-ranged shooting.
Ready or Not Dorms Soft Objectives
- Report drug paraphernalia
Thankfully, there's only one soft objective in Dorms, and that's to secure some drug equipment somewhere in the building. To find it, start at the south entrance, then head up the first set of stairs in the long hallway. You should be able to see a shrine of sorts after a short search. Head to the lectern to find a bong along with packets of drugs.
Recommended Dorms Loadout and Tips
As mentioned, ballistic shields and CS gas are great for this map, but as far as the rest of your team's loadouts go, you'll want to consider the following:
- Wear heavy armor. This will let you tank some extra hits in case you get stuck in cramped rooms or caught in those long, open hallways.
- Bring flashlights. This map isn't dark enough for night vision, but dim enough to obscure your vision.
- Go for non-lethal hits. If you aren't using a beanbag shotgun or pepperball launcher, aim for the shoulders or stomach. Remember: you must arrest five suspects.
- Use hollow-point ammo. Suspects here are mostly unarmored and are easily stopped by HP ammo. Might lead to a higher fatality rate, though.
- Bring tasers and pepper spray. The majority of civilians and suspects here are non-compliant.
