Realm of Ink is an example of a well-executed roguelike game, getting its inspiration from the behemoth known as Hades. It does a few things to help itself stand out from its inspiration, and from other games in the genre, such as the addition of a cute little pet companion that evolves alongside the player.
However, it shares a lot of similarities with other roguelike games, such as the gameplay loop, the combat mechanics, and the meta progression system. The game isn't very stingy with its resources, nor is it particularly difficult to beat, but there is something to be said about the efficiency of resource allocation.
Realm of Ink: All Talents in the Game
Talents are a metaprogression system in Realm of Ink that make your life easier the more you play the game.
How do Talents Work in Realm of Ink
There are a few different ways of meta progression in Realm of Ink. Firstly, players can unlock new characters, or skins, and try out their different abilities. Secondly, they can evolve their pet, Momo, by feeding it. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, players can invest in talents and perks that increase their chances of completing a run.
You can buy talents from the Talent Stele using Foxblood, a fairly abundant resource that you'll automatically collect while going through a room and fighting enemies. In total, there are 33 talents that you can unlock, not including the parent talents that are unlocked on their own. These are divided into four tiers, and three categories, i.e., Damage, Healing, and Resource.
Choosing the right ones at the start isn't extremely important since you'll only need a few runs before you rack up enough Foxblood to outright unlock everything, but it'll take a bit longer before you can completely max out the Stele.
Realm of Ink: How to Unlock Inkpet Special Skill
The Inkpets that accompany you on your journey to freedom in Realm of Ink have special skills that you can unlock if you meet the right conditions.
Best Talents To Unlock First in Realm of Ink
Out of the 33 talents found within Realm of Ink, you should buy the first level of each as soon as possible. This is because of the Parent talents, which can't be directly purchased, become active once the talents within their tier are purchased. Parent talents are extremely powerful, much more than the normal talents in the stele. Unlocking just one talent in a tier will give you a level one version of the parent talent, though you won't be able to unlock the next tier until you've unlocked the other talents in the previous tier.
Now the question becomes, which talent is the most important in the short-term, being worthy of your hard-earned Foxblood. There are a few different options available to players, which are as follows:
