Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with flora and fauna for players to collect or hunt, many of which will offer quite the challenge. But there are a few animals that are challenging simply because they are rare and therefore hard to find. The iguana, for example, is an animal that many Red Dead Redemption 2 players likely have seen very few of, if at all.

Those looking to kill and skin an iguana have a few locations to roam. New Austin has a few spots where iguana spawn but that is very late game, and therefore not ideal for the average player. Instead, players want to focus their attention on Flat Iron Lake.

In the eastern part of Flat Iron Lank are a series of islands. In the northernmost region of those islands, players are likely to find some iguana. Below is a map and the specific iguana location.

Once players have found some iguana they will want to get a perfect iguana skin. As we mentioned in our perfect pelt guide, there are some important tips to getting a perfect animal skin. First, players want to make sure they scout the animal using their binoculars or a scoped rifle. Study the animal if you have never encountered it and to unlock more important info.

Then, find an iguana that has three stars next to its name. These iguanas will give a perfect skin, provided that players get the clean kill.

In order to get a clean kill and therefore a perfect iguana skin they will need to look at the ‘Show Info’ tab. In the case of iguanas, players must use the varmint rifle to get a clean kill and we recommend aiming for the head.

Perfect iguana skins might not seem that useful but they are one of the ingredients necessary for crafting the Materials Satchel from Pearson at the camp. This satchel will increase the carrying capacity of inedible ingredients. It might not seem like much but crafting all of the satchels with Pearson unlocks the Legend of the East Satchel, which increases the carrying capacity of all items. That means players can carry more valuables for making money, more food, and more tonics for stat buffs.
