One clever Red Dead Online has shared footage of gameplay which makes Rockstar's online Western title look suspiciously like the Bethesda classic, Skyrim. Players have plenty of things to do in Red Dead Online, but it's fun to see how creative gamers can be when they are just messing around.
One of the best features of Red Dead Online is the freedom for players to experience the world however they'd like. Some take it seriously, while others just enjoy having such a robust sandbox to mess around in. As a result, there are always some amazing achievements emerging from the game, even a few years after its release. Just recently, one player finally reached Level 1000 in Red Dead Online after 9200 hours, which is some commitment given that it's over an entire year of gameplay.
GTA 6 Trailer Has Red Dead Online Easter Egg
An eagle-eyed fan discovers a Red Dead Online Easter egg hiding in the recently-released Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer.
Redditor JoshL115 shared the clip from Red Dead Online, which shows the player walking through a snowy forest in first-person with a hatchet in hand, claiming they had played like this for 30 minutes. There's no doubt it closely resembles early-game Skyrim a lot. JoshL115 has even edited music from Skyrim over the clip, to add to the immersion. The main giveaway is the Red Dead Online HUD. However, with the amount of Skyrim graphics mods out there that make the game look as though it was released in 2023, no one could be blamed for mistaking the two in this particular clip.
Gamers in the thread were almost fooled by the post. So fooled, in fact, that they suggested JoshL115 remove the HUD and post it to the Skyrim subreddit under the guise of a modded game. That's exactly what they did, with a ton of players being initially tricked due to the close similarities between the two. According to the user, they were attacked by wolves just after making the post, with the axe in Red Dead Online proving not quite as effective as it would have been in Skyrim.
In recent years, some gamers have felt that Red Dead Online has received a lack of attention from Rockstar in terms of updates, especially when compared to the juggernaut of Grand Theft Auto Online. It's a shame, given Red Dead Online retains a dedicated player base to this day. However, Rockstar hasn't forgotten about the holiday season this year. The studio is currently giving away holiday gift packages in Red Dead Online, giving gamers a set of in-game items until December 25. There is also a set of Holiday Call to Arms missions currently active over the holiday period, making it a great time to jump in and play.
