Like most of Rockstar's games, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a number of cheat codes that players can use to give themselves an advantage. However, unlike past Rockstar games, Red Dead Redemption 2 cheat codes aren't activated through specific button pressing sequences, but rather by submitting certain phrases.
Some of the cheat codes require players to purchase a specific newspaper first, and for the newspaper to be in protagonist Arthur Morgan's inventory when the phrase is submitted. After their initial activation, cheats can be toggled on and off at the player's leisure.
The cheats are listed below, with the phrase that players have to input listed next to the cheat. To input the cheats, press start, go to settings, and then press the Triangle/Y button depending on platform of choice.
- Add $500 - Greed is now a virtue
- Create Buggy - Keep your dreams light
- Create Circus Wagon - Would you be happier as a clown? (Newspaper required)
- Create Race Horse - Run! Run! Run!
- Create Random Horse - You want something new
- Create Stagecoach - The best of the old ways
- Create Superior Horse - You want more than you have
- Create Wagon - Keep your dreams simple
- Create War Horse - You are a beast built for war (newspaper required)
- Decrease Wanted Level - You want freedom
- Drunk - A fool on command
- Fog of War (reveals map) - You long for sight but see nothing (newspaper required)
- Fortify Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye Bars - You seek more than the world offers (newspaper required)
- Gunslinger Weapons - History is written by fools
- Heavy Weapons - Greed is American virtue (newspaper required)
- High Honor - Virtue unearned is not virtue (newspaper required)
- Increase Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye Bar Levels - Seek all the bounty of this place
- Increase Horse Bonding - My kingdom is a horse
- Increase Horse Whistle Range - Better than my dog
- Increase Wanted Level - You want punishment
- Infinite Ammo - Abundance is the dullest desire (newspaper required)
- Infinite Stamina - The lucky be strong evermore (newspaper required)
- Learn All Recipes - Eat of knowledge
- Own All Outfits - Vanity. All is vanity
- Share - Purchase all camp upgrades
- Reset Honor - Balance. All is balance
- Set Dead Eye Level 2 - Make me better
- Set Dead Eye Level 3 - I shall be better
- Set Dead Eye Level 4 - I still seek more
- Set Dead Eye Level 5 - I seek and I find
- Set Health, Stamina, Dead Eye Bars to Full - You flourish before you die
- Simple Weapons - A simple life, a beautiful death
- Stealth Weapons - Death is silence
Before players input any of the above cheats, they should be sure to make a separate save file first. Cheats can deactivate achievements and story progress, so creating a separate save file is important for players who don't want to ruin their main save. That way players can have a save where they just mess around with cheats, and one that they use for serious story progression and the like.
It's also worth pointing out that there are more cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2 than the ones listed here, but players are still in the process of discovering them. We will update this article as more cheats are found.
