Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most technically impressive games on the PS4 and Xbox One. Players expect nothing less from Rockstar Games than pushing the boundaries of what a console can do. The current generation has been around for several years, so it only feels right for the company to release an updated version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2: Best Crafting Recipes and How To Get Them
With these crafting recipes in Red Dead Redemption 2, nothing should stop Arthur Morgan across his journeys in the tamed West.
They did it with Grand Theft Auto 5, so why not do the same to their 2018 Western epic? Should the day come when Red Dead Redemption 2 is updated for modern consoles, fans hope they add the features detailed in the entries below.
1 Higher Frame Rates
Make It Smoother
When the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X hit shelves, it was fantastic to see so many games from the prior generation almost immediately receive patches that let them run at 60 frames per second. It not only makes the game look better and smoother, but it also feels better to play.
The adverse effect it had on games without a patch is that 30 frames per second all of a sudden looks janky and jittery. It would be fantastic to play Red Dead 2 with a smoother frame rate. The beautiful visuals certainly deserve to look as good as possible.
2 More Missions In New Austin
Give Players A Reason To Go There
The map of Red Dead 2 includes much of the landmass from 2010's Red Dead Redemption. Players are unable to access Mexico, however. It would be a lot for the developers to add Mexico back into the map, but it really wouldn't be too much to ask for some more content inside New Austin.
Every Horse In Red Dead Redemption 2 Ranked From Worst To Best
Red Dead Redemption 2 gives players plenty of choices when choosing their steed. Here's how they all compare to one another.
There are a few things to do there for players who explore, but for the most part, the area is barren. As it is now, there is almost no reason to even visit that part of the map.
Grand Theft Auto 5 had additional missions in its enhanced version, so it is not unprecedented for the studio to add missions.
3 A Red Dead Online Content Update
More Multiplayer Content
Red Dead Online was not out long before Rockstar announced that they would cease supporting it. The servers are still online and everything that was added is still available, but it is not being fed new content like Grand Theft Auto Online.
If the day comes when a next-gen patch hits the game, the developers should throw Red Dead Online fans a bone and give them more content to enjoy. It would only be right to thank fans for sticking with the game for so long even as no new content is added to the experience.
4 Improved Loading Times
Get Players Into The World Faster
It is difficult to complain about load times in a game that is so large. However, in the modern gaming landscape, especially with the SSDs, players have become used to big maps loading up in just a few seconds.
Take Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, for example. That game cues up its large world quickly, with just enough time to read some of the tips before the game is ready. Red Dead Redemption 2's load times are incredibly long by comparison, and could certainly stand to be cut down a bit.
5 Crossplay
Connect The Community
If Red Dead Online is not receiving new content, then one can expect the community to slowly dwindle until just a few superfans remain. One easy way to make the community more lively and make sure it lives a little longer would be to add crossplay support.
At the very least they should add crossplay support between PlayStation and Xbox, so there won't be any of the problems that come with adding PC players, like the advantage of mouse aiming or aimbots.
GTA Online similarly does not have cross-play, but that game is in no danger of losing its community anytime soon.
6 Improved Movement
Make Running Feel Better
Rockstar games always feel heavy to move around in on foot. The major exception to this would be Max Payne 3, but that's an entirely different type of game. Red Dead 2 is a slow, heavy game that wants players to soak in the world and live in it.
Secret Side Quests Everyone Missed In Red Dead Redemption 2
With how vast the open-world environment of Red Dead Redemption 2 is, it's easy to miss out on these fun secret side missions.
Still, it would be nice to move around a little faster. It is most notable in close areas where it is easy to get turned around and it takes time to turn reposition if the player is facing a wall. It can be a death sentence in a gunfight.
7 Rockstar Editor
Let Fans Edit Their Own Videos
Red Dead Redemption 2 is not the same type of sandbox as Grand Theft Auto, but it still has its moments of hilarity. Why not let players capture these moments or make some drama of their own with the Rockstar Editor like Grand Theft Auto 5?
Maybe Rockstar figures that independent editing software is enough for those who like making their own videos, but the Rockstar Editor lets players do a lot more than simply capturing footage could ever do. The ability to manipulate the camera angle of a gameplay recording alone makes the Rockstar Editor an invaluable tool.
