History confirms the old American West was a dangerous place as the 19th century came to a close, and players can experience that in Red Dead Redemption 2. Gangs, gunslingers, and corrupt lawmen are just a few of the threats players must face down in Rockstar Games' epic western as they navigate the dying days of the old west. However, one player may have had one of the strangest encounters in the game involving an oddly thoughtful NPC.
Despite being out for nearly three years, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still going strong on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game's online component has an active userbase who regularly log on to explore, steal, or simply wreak havoc across the world. However, no plans are said to be in the works yet for an upgrade or port to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as Rockstar is busy preparing Grand Theft Auto 5 to make the next-gen jump and rumors fly about Grand Theft Auto 6.
The experience in question is currently up to see on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Reddit page thanks to user _Howls_With_Wolves_. They posted a short video of their character going to bed to save their progress. When it was done saving, a hostile NPC was inside the farmhouse the player was saving in and immediately attacked them as they were mid-animation.
The video is proving to be a hit with users on the Reddit page, with most saying they laughed after seeing the video. Some post about just the sheer ridiculous nature of the video while others lean into it, talking about their own strange experiences in Red Dead Online.
Bugs and occurrences like these are not new to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, though. As impressive as Rockstar's epic remains, the size of the game means oddities like this are a normal occurrence in one form or another. One of the more recent bugs to hit Red Dead caused NPCs to have large, buggy eyes when players lower the graphics quality.
However, for as many bugs appear that may be good for a laugh, there are as many that can be potential detriments or even game-ending to the experience. The game was littered with these kinds of bugs at release, such as disappearing inventory to outright game crashes. It is in a far better state now, with most bugs falling into the aforementioned category and being typically comical or just odd. That being said, players may need to be a little more cautious from now on if they don't want to run afoul of NPCs like _Howls_With_Wolves_ did.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
