Rockstar has revealed the minimum and recommended system requirements for the Red Dead Redemption PC version. The company's newly shared specs list suggests that even older rigs should have no trouble running the long-awaited Red Dead Redemption port.

Originally released for the seventh console generation in May 2010, Red Dead Redemption finally made its way to modern platforms in August 2023, when it was ported to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Some 14 months later, Rockstar announced that the game was also getting a PC port, which is scheduled to debut in late October 2024.

Red Dead Redemption PC Port Supports 9-Year-Old GPUs

Shortly thereafter, the Red Dead Redemption Steam page went live, revealing the list of the game's PC system requirements. The specs sheet states that this upcoming version of the hit action adventure will be able to run on fairly old GPUs, going as far back as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 and AMD Radeon R7 360, both of which are pushing ten nowadays. For an optimal experience, Rockstar recommends the RTX 2070, RX 5700 XT, or an equivalent or more powerful graphics card.

As for processors, the newly announced Red Dead Redemption PC port requires the Intel Core i5-4670 or AMD FX-9590 at a minimum. Both of these CPUs are over 11 years old as of today. The game's memory requirements are comparably modest, with Rockstar stating that the port will need under 8GB of RAM. Red Dead Redemption will take up approximately 12GB of storage space on PC. Installing it on a solid-state drive is recommended, but not a hard requirement, the specs sheet reads.

These modest requirements are reflective of the fact that the PC version of Red Dead Redemption is not a remaster, but a pretty straightforward port. Nevertheless, Rockstar confirmed that the game will launch with some PC-specific features, including support for 21:9 and 23:9 ultrawide monitors and HDR10 displays, as well as keyboard and mouse controls. Support for the Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 AI-powered upscaling technologies and DLSS frame generation will also be part of the package. Ditto for granular graphics settings, allowing players to adjust shadow quality, draw distance, and the like.

Red Dead Redemption is coming to PC on October 29. One big question regarding this upcoming launch is how much the game will cost. The PS4 and Switch versions of John Marston's iconic adventure debuted with a $49.99 price tag, incurring criticism from fans. But seeing how Take-Two defended its pricing of these Red Dead Redemption ports and stuck with it, it seems plausible that the game will have the same price tag on PC.
