A fan has stumbled across a Red Dead Redemption-themed bar in Hangzhou, China, and it looks like it came straight out of the game. Rockstar’s hit Western series has been popular since its debut, but its popularity soared to record levels after Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in 2018. Saloons play a key role in the game, serving as hubs for bounties, side quests, and lodging—and now, they’ve even inspired real-life recreations.

The first game in the now-legendary Red Dead franchise was Red Dead Revolver, released in 2004. While it was a modest hit for its time, it was the follow-up, Red Dead Redemption, that truly made the series famous. With its open-world action and captivating storyline, Red Dead Redemption paved the way for the record-breaking success of Red Dead Redemption 2. While bars appear in all the Red Dead games, it wasn’t until RDR1 that they became a central feature.

A Reddit user named The_Goof recently shared images of a Red Dead Redemption-themed bar in Hangzhou, China. Designed in the classic Western style featured in the games, the bar is marked by a large Valentine sign at the entrance. Inside, the decor immerses visitors in the game's world, with wanted posters for Dutch van der Linde, cowboy hats, and vintage black-and-white photos. The bar even includes a piano and a fireplace, echoing the Smithfield’s Saloon in Valentine from Red Dead Redemption 2.

A Red Dead Redemption Themed Bar Has Been Found in China

The bar’s sign and its interior, featuring Smithfield Saloon’s signature focal points, suggest it is primarily inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2. The bustling frontier town of Valentine appears only in this latest installment of the series. Valentine is full of surprises in Red Dead Redemption 2 and plays a significant role in story progression, especially during the early chapters.

The Dutch van der Linde decorations in the Red Dead-themed bar further suggest that it draws most of its inspiration from RDR2. In RDR1, the gang has already dissolved and only appears through flashbacks and dialogue, serving primarily as the backdrop for John Marston’s redemption arc. However, in Red Dead Redemption 2, Dutch and the Van der Linde gang are central to the story, with far greater depth given to their characters and relationships.

The immaculate-looking bar gets plenty of Red Dead's Western elements right on the money with accurate replicas from the legendary series sprinkled throughout the establishment. Red Dead Redemption 2 stands at the pinnacle of Rockstar’s titles, alongside the massively successful GTA series. Even after seven years, its ability to inspire real-life recreations remains strong in countries around the world.
