[REDACTED] is one of the more difficult roguelike games to come out in recent times. It puts a lot of focus on movement and directional attacks, making the combat much harder than many of the other titles in the genre. However, it makes up for the difficulty with absolutely stunning visuals and unique graphics.

As much as the gorgeous attack effects try to hide it, they can't stop the players from finding out the hard way how difficult its levels really are. The bosses found at the end of each biome are quite difficult compared to the normal, or even the elite, enemies, and the first boss in the game that players encounter, the Berserker, is as much of a menace as the latter ones.

General Strategy for the Berserker

General strategy for Berkerser in [REDACTED]

The health bar of players in [REDACTED] is not very high. This means that players are extremely squishy, only being able to take a handful of hits before perishing to the never-ending horde. Keeping that in mind, the general plan for any boss fight is the same.

  1. Learn the boss' moveset and attack timings.
  2. Avoid as many attacks as you can, and play cautiously.
  3. Use your abilities where possible and use a combination of status effects to inflict as much damage as possible.
  4. Get rid of the mobs as soon as they spawn. They can and will swarm you with attacks if left alone.

Berserker's Moveset

The Berserker has two phases, though they're not distinctly separate. After you whittle down its HP to a certain level, it enters, well, berserker mode, and all of its attacks become more difficult to dodge.

  • Rush Attack
    • Phase 1: The boss moves slightly backward and then rushes towards the player. If the player dodges in time, the boss will slam into a wall and become stunned for a second before recovering and starting the next attack.
    • Phase 2: Instead of getting stunned after hitting the wall, the boss recovers and rushes right back at the player. It repeats this move a few times without much delay between each rush. During this phase, staying in the middle of the arena is recommended so you can dodge the charges easily.
  • Poison Spit
    • Phase 1: The boss jumps up to reorient itself and spits out four globs of poison simultaneously as it touches the ground. It repeats this move while rotating in a clockwise manner.
    • Phase 2: Instead of four globs of poison, the boss spits out eight. These cover almost 180 degrees in the direction the boss is facing. To avoid them, make sure you dash behind the boss as soon as it starts rotating.
  • Shockwave
    • Phase 1: The Berserker slams into the ground, shooting out a conical shockwave that gets bigger as it gets further away from the boss.
    • Phase 2: Instead of a conical wave, the slam starts a circular shockwave that radiates outward, covering the entire arena, with the boss being the center of the shockwave. Keep in mind that the dodge timing for this is different since you can't dodge behind the boss. You'll need to stay a little further away from the boss when it's performing this attack, as dodging while close will end up with you in front of the back of the shockwave.
  • Meteor
    • Phase 1: The boss jumps up out of the screen. It casts a shadow on the ground that goes after the player. Once it's on top of the player, it starts to shrink. Once it's a certain size, the boss will slam down like a meteor on top of the player. The key to dodging this attack is to note the delay between the shadow's size and the boss' fall.
    • Phase 2: The attack doesn't stop after the boss slams down. Instead, the Berserker jumps back up and repeats this attack several times.
