Taking out Vampire Nests in Redfall is a high-octane activity governed by a timer rather than a mere combat challenge. There are enemies involved but the main objective is to destroy the heart and get out before the timer is up. This is a multi-tasked process that can throw gamers off if they aren't ready for it.
Since players have to enter the nests without seeing a blueprint first, these can be confusing challenges. Thankfully, once understanding how they work, it is not difficult. Redfall makes these challenges a change-of-pace but doesn't introduce any unreasonably challenging mechanics.
How To Clear A Vampire Nest
- Enter a Vampire Nest.
- Get to the heart.
- Manually interact with the Nest Victims around the heart.
- Shoot/destroy the heart.
- Loot the Nest Remnant.
- Shoot/destroy the newly spawned Nest Heart Chambers.
- (Optional) Loot the areas behind the Nest Heart Chambers.
- Leave out of the Nest Exit.
The first part of the Vampire Nest is very straightforward. Find one on the map (they don't spawn until after a few missions into the game), then fight any enemies and complete any brief puzzles until reach the heart. The game can feel long but do not worry; these puzzles are very simple if they exist at all.
Players will end at a heart connected by strands to multiple Nest Victims. Manually interact with each Nest Victim (in melee range) to disconnect them to the heart. This makes the heart vulnerable.
Each of these steps grant experience, so enjoy some quick leveling. Shoot the heart a few times and a Nest Remnant will appear on the ground underneath where the heart used to be. Looting this will begin a countdown timer. The survivor must leave the area before the timer expires.
Before the exit is available to take, multiple Nest Heart Chambers will appear around the area. Destroy each of them with a few shots. Behind each one is an area of goodies to loot. They are optional. Solo players will likely only be able to loot one room, so play in a group to get all of the rewards.
The final step is to exit the gateway. This process can be done by any survivor, good or bad, in plenty of time.
