While Rematch is still great when played alone, especially in ranked mode, it is arguably at its best when played with friends. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there is no cross-play currently, meaning that players can only team up with friends on the same platform for now, but this feature is a priority for Sloclap.
Rematch: 10 Beginner Tips
These beginner tips & tricks for Rematch will help players get more involved in the game, score more goals, and ultimately win more matches.
For those on the same platform, this guide will explain how to add friends on Rematch and play with them.
How To Add Friends On Rematch & Invite Them To Your Squad
To invite friends on Rematch to your squad, open up the social tab in the top left corner. Here, players can add up to four existing friends to their squad and then enter quick matches or ranked together. Use the plus icons or open up the friends list.
Invites can also be seen in the social tab.
Can You Add New Friends On Rematch?
Currently, the only way to add players as friends on Rematch is to go to Friends List, then switch to the Recent tab, and add players from your previous games as friends.
Otherwise, players will need to add friends on their respective platforms to have them as friends in Rematch. For example, players on Steam will need to add their friends on Steam. This is the same for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC Game Pass.
This should change once cross-play is added, allowing players to add friends from other platforms.
How To Practice With Friends In Rematch (Custom Matches)
While friends and squad members cannot currently join the same freeplay sessions, there is still a way to practice together.
Custom games allow players to make their own private lobbies and set their own rules. For example, players can practice scoring and goalkeeping 1 vs 1 against a friend. Two players can also go on the same team with no opponents to practice passing and crossing together.
How To Make Custom Matches
Custom matches are created from the main menu. There are two options: Create and Join With Code. Within the Create Option, players can set the number of players and spectators.
The rules can also be altered, and if players are looking to practice, it's best to set the time to 20, the goals to reach to 0, and the mercy rule goal difference to 0, allowing for long, uninterrupted training sessions.
All Rematch Mechanics, Explained
Rematch brings a new experience for soccer fans to dive into. Here are all the mechanics explained to get the most out of them while playing.
Inviting Friends To Custom Matches
When everything is set up, click Create Game in the bottom right. This will create a lobby with a 6-digit code in the top left.
Players can then send this code to their friends or read it out to them, to use in the Join With Code menu.
After a custom game, don't forget to invite your friends to the squad before queuing up. It's easy to accidentally queue without them.
