With keepers locking onto the ball, one of the best ways to score in Rematch is to shoot the ball high above the net so that it bounces off the back wall, setting up the same player or a teammate for an easy volley in. This works best when the keeper dives after the initial shot, leaving the goal open for the volley.
Rematch: How to Get a Gold Medal in Toro
Toro is by far the hardest workshop in Rematch, with players having to intercept three players passing.
While players may at first feel helpless as keepers or defenders against this common tactic, there are thankfully a number of ways to stop back-wall shots in Rematch.
What To Do As A Keeper Against Back-Wall Shots In Rematch?
Don't Dive Early
When back-wall shots are common, the worst thing a keeper can do is dive early, opening up the goal for easy volleys. Try to rely on reactions rather than predictions.
The only acceptable dive would be if the ball only goes slightly above the goal, in which case keepers can jump up by pressing Y/Triangle/Spacebar, but importantly, without inputting any direction.
Wait To Catch The Ball
After the ball has hit the back wall, keepers don't need to look at the ball. Instead, they should look for the blue circle on the floor where the ball is projected to land.
The keeper can either stand on this circle and jump directly upwards, or they can dive toward this spot as the ball is falling. This will catch the ball, hopefully before an attacker can volley it in. In some cases, keepers may even use a volley themselves.

What To Do As A Defender Against Back-Wall Shots In Rematch?
Defenders in Rematch can play an integral role in clearing back-wall shots, and the first thing they can do is try to block the initial shot. The defender covering the player in possession should give them little breathing room, meaning passes off the back wall will hopefully be of a lower quality.
Other than getting a tackle in, which would be ideal, defenders can jump using Y/Triangle/Q to try to block the ball.
Waiting In The Box & Clearing The Ball
Once the ball has been shot off the back wall, defenders will want to be in the box, marking attackers. Make sure to stand on the side of them closest to the goal.
As the ball starts to come down, its drop point will be marked by a circle on the floor. Defenders want to be near this. They can then try to head the ball away:
- Xbox: X
- PlayStation: Square
- PC: Right Click
Make sure to aim this header away from goal, and as passes/headers can be made in any direction, it doesn't matter which way your player or the camera is facing.
All of these techniques for dealing with back-wall shots in Rematch can also be applied to normal crosses.
As attacking volleys will gain priority over these headers, make sure to rise up first before the attacker has a chance to strike. Additionally, in some cases, defenders can also use these volleys to clear the ball, potentially even with overhead kicks.
