Rematch developer Sloclap has just rolled out the first major patch for the breakout soccer game. Dubbed 1.200.100, the new Rematch update brings a raft of fixes, tweaks, and quality-of-life improvements that look to sharpen the on-pitch experience for players across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Since its launch on June 19, Rematch has been accruing favor among gamers thanks to its unique blend of arcade-style soccer gameplay and distinctive art style. Having launched into Xbox Game Pass on day one, Rematch garnered over one million unique players in less than 24 hours, and as it stands, the game has attracted more than five million unique players. Despite this excellent early momentum, Rematch players have been quick to point out the lack of certain essential features, and SloClap has addressed a lot of the complaints with the game's first big update.

Rematch Review

While there's a lot to love about Sifu developer Sloclap's new multiplayer soccer game Rematch, it scores a few own goals.

Update 1.200.100 brings one of the most requested features for Rematch: gamepad remapping. Players can finally customize button layouts, and while the functionality is still fairly basic - only single-button commands are supported for now - Sloclap says a more advanced remapping system is on the way. Rematch players now also gain better control of the ball through fixes to hit detection, player collisions, and blocking mechanics, particularly those involving defenders and goalkeepers. The latter has seen one of the most noticeable upgrades, with goalies now evaluating ball speed more effectively when choosing to catch or deflect, and reacting more reliably to player collisions.

The new Rematch update also improves animations, tackles camera jitter during goal replays, and introduces a Colorblind Mode. This accessibility feature adjusts team kit colors based on three common types of color vision deficiency and will be expanded further in future Rematch updates to apply to the entire screen. Sloclap also notes improvements in environment lighting, menu UX tweaks, and scoreboard visibility at the end of matches. Still, a few known bugs remain, like rare sound glitches and achievement issues, but more fixes are expected within two to three weeks.

While the long-awaited crossplay feature for Rematch didn't make it into Update 1.200.100, the breadth and impact of the inclusions are none less than staggering. SloClap has enjoyed a healthy influx of Rematch players over the past month, and the game's first major update seems like a crucial step in maintaining that momentum by going after issues that can be addressed quickly.

Rematch Update 1.200.100 July 2025 Patch Notes

Matches / Core Gameplay Improvements

Gamepad Remapping

  • This first version is quite basic (it doesn’t allow to create combinations of inputs), but we opted to allow players to start tinkering with mapping before offering a more advanced version soon.

Better Hit Detection

  • Fixed an issue where the ball would be deflected instead of being caught by the goalkeeper in certain situations: the ball speed was not correctly evaluated to decide whether to catch or deflect.
  • Improved goal validation when the ball is caught on the goal line: decision making now uses a delay to check for potential deflect/catch and account for network variation before validating the goal.
  • Other general netcode improvements and fixes.

  • Shots deviated by an outfield player's defense mode now have a wider angle, except against goalkeeper or sweeper shots.
