As with most multiplayer team games, Rematch has a ranked mode, allowing players to test their skills and climb the ranks. This guide will explain how ranked works in Rematch and go over all the ranks so that players know where they stand.

These beginner tips & tricks for Rematch will help players get more involved in the game, score more goals, and ultimately win more matches.

How To Unlock Ranked In Rematch

Rematch - Prologue Bench

To be able to play ranked in Rematch, players will first need to reach level 5. To level up, simply play more games.

This gives players enough time to learn the game and understand the importance of passing and defending. Time spent in the practice workshops and freeplay won't help players level up, but their skills will vastly improve.

How Does Ranked Work In Rematch?

Rematch - Gain RP After Ranked Win

Currently, ranked in Rematch is only for 5 vs 5 games, but if the game proves popular, then the future could see 3 vs 3 and 4 vs 4 ranked modes with their own ladders.

The usual rules of the game apply, but players have even more reasons not to leave the game halfway through. If a player disconnects, they can thankfully reconnect and still earn RP if they win.

Placement Games For Ranked

To begin their ranked journey, players will need to complete 5 placement games before they are assigned a rank. The outcome of these games helps to determine a player's starting rank.

While a player's individual performance does not seem to affect ranked gains later on, it could possibly impact these placement games, as some premades have reported receiving different ranks. Another explanation could be unranked MMR affecting rank placement. In other words, it's likely that a player's win rate in their unranked games before beginning ranked will affect where they are placed.

Hopefully, Sloclap can give a more definitive answer about what goes on behind the scenes in terms of placement.

There are many ways to avoid tackles in Rematch in order to keep hold of the ball.

Ranking Up & Down

After being assigned a rank, players will then gain or lose RP each game, depending on whether they win or lose. These gains do not appear to be affected by personal performance.

For example, players seem to gain 20 RP for wins and lose around 17 or 18 RP for losses. This may change slightly if players end up with very good or bad MMRs.

As each division is made up of 100 RP, players will typically need to win around 5 games to rank up.

To win more games and rank up, players should focus on good teamwork, passing, and defending. They will also need to be confident as a keeper, as everyone takes their turn in net.

Demotions & Promotions

Rematch - Ranked Promotion Matches

If players have just 5 RP in their current division, they will only lose 5 RP and go down to 0 RP. Losing on 0 RP will cause players to demote. While you can be demoted from divisions, some players are reporting that they seem to be safe from being demoted to lower leagues. For example, a player in Silver cannot go down to Bronze. However, this may just take a number of losses, and players can expect to demote from leagues at high ranks.

As for going up a division, for example, from Silver 2 to Silver 1, the RP should carry over.

However, if players are looking to go up a league, from Silver 1 to Gold 3, for example, they will have to play some promotion games. These are a best-of-3, so win 2 promotion games to rank up.

Rewards For Ranked

Currently, there are no visible rewards for ranked, and players don't appear to gain anything upon ranking up. However, many games only hand out ranked rewards at the end of a season, so these may be added.
