After a short two-day delay, Rematch has received its third big update that adds crossplay, new battle pass rewards, and a player reporting function. Thought by many players to be one of the best sports games of 2025 so far, Rematch has impressed soccer fans and non-soccer fans alike with its wholly unique third-person take on the sport, giving players a fresh on-field perspective and doing away with the magnetized ball control of bigger soccer franchises in favor of a more skill-intensive approach.
As a live service title, developer Sloclap has been constantly pushing out updates and patches for Rematch since its hugely popular June release. While the game was largely quite polished at launch, Sloclap has been making small tweaks and improvements to the game over the past weeks and months, fine-tuning Rematch's skill-reliant gameplay. Each of Rematch's major patches goes through a beta phase before being fully implemented across all platforms. This most recent patch remained in beta for a few extra days longer than expected before Sloclap deemed it ready for primetime.
Recently Added Xbox Game Pass Multiplayer Game is a Big Hit
One of Xbox Game Pass' recently added multiplayer games reaches a massive milestone just over a month after its mid-June launch.
Rematch's third major patch has just gone live and has brought some key features to the online soccer experience. Mainly, players across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC can now take advantage of crossplay to invite and team up with players from other platforms on the pitch. To clear the air, Sloclap confirmed that cross-progression is not currently in the works for Rematch. Player reporting has been added to the game as well, giving players a way to inform the devs about teammates or opponents who are up to no good. Another big addition to Rematch are the five new "Endgame" battle pass rewards, the last of which costs a whopping 150 tokens. Sloclap says this tier of rewards is only for the most committed Rematch players to unlock.
Of course, this new update also comes with a hefty list of gameplay improvements, some of which are tied to Rematch's boost feature called Extra Effort that lets players quickly consume their stamina bar for an extra jolt of speed. Several inconsistencies having to do with ball control and animation while using Extra Effort have been patched up. Sloclap also added a new camera lock setting for controller users that locks the camera in place at the beginning of a shot at the net, not allowing any movements or adjustments as the ball is kicked. It's a mouse and keyboard setting that's being brought to controllers and can be useful for players who tend to move the aim stick too much while lining up a shot.
Although it's great to see all these new features and improvements come to Rematch, Xbox players are still experiencing widespread issues with a number of the game's achievements not working properly. Sloclap is aware of these ongoing achievement woes and has its fourth major patch lined up for mid-September, where it hopes to provide such fixes. Mid-September is also when Sloclap is planning on rolling out Season 1 of Rematch, so fans should stay tuned to the studio's socials in the coming weeks.

Mouse and Keyboard Settings
The mouse and keyboard tap direction option is finally there. It allows you to switch between 3 different options to aim with the taps, lobs, and volleys of those actions. The options are:
-
Joystick Emulation: the default system that locks the camera and requires the player to move the mouse in a joystick-like manner.
- Two new sensitivity settings are available when using this mode: Smooth Correction Speed and Smooth Correction Range.
- Directional aiming: aim with the crosshair if there are no movement inputs pressed, or if the forward input is pressed. Otherwise, aim with the movement inputs (what is colloquially known as “WASD aiming”, which was used in the first pre-launch Beta)
- Crosshair-only: aim with the crosshair only.

Known Issues
Matches / Core Gameplay

- Extra Effort can still be spammed in Defense Mode, leading to unintended behavior
- The GK can catch balls while inside their own net
- Player may slide when gaining Ball Control with Defense Mode while shooting
- The ball can pass through the MC if Defense Mode is activated right before gaining Ball Control

-
The ball may move incorrectly during locomotion transitions:
- Moves behind the player’s feet when stopping in v1 walking speed
- Moves away from the feet during transitions at v1 speed
-
Locomotion animations can feel inconsistent:
- Slowed down at v2 speed when turning
- Sped up at v1 speed during touchball turns

- In rare cases, the GK invulnerability circle timer does not match the actual invulnerability duration when tackling an ally
