Alepsis-Taura is the final boss in Remnant 2's The Dark Horizon DLC, a black-hole-esque, AI entity known as 'The Voice.' It can be a challenging Remnant 2 boss fight to beat with various phases and devastating attacks, so you might wonder how to beat Alepsis-Taura. Fortunately, there are a few handy tips and tricks to help you survive longer if you're struggling.
You might also wonder when to trigger the Alepsis-Taura boss fight, which depends on what rewards you want, and how to find it. In the traditional Remnant 2 style, Alepsis-Taura has a possible alternative kill option with different rewards for beating it versus the usual path.
Where To Find Alepsis-Taura In Remnant 2 The Dark Horizon DLC And When To Fight
In Remnant 2's The Dark Horizon DLC, Alepsis-Taura is located in The Convergence as pictured above, the final area of the DLC map that sits atop a tower-like structure. It's the tower that the Gardener cryptically warns you not to visit when first meeting him. On entering The Convergence, you can initiate a dialogue with Alepsis-Taura where you can either start the fight early (Alepsis-Taura says you are not ready but can choose to face it anyway or return later). If you fight Alepsis early, you'll enter the Alt-kill pathway. Alternatively, to unlock a different set of rewards, you must find and destroy the two large prism crystals before facing Alepsis-Taura.
How To Beat Alepsis-Taura Final Boss In Remnant 2 The Dark Horizon DLC
Unlike minor bosses in The Dark Horizon DLC like Remnant 2's N'Erudian Reaper, which are typically less difficult but often possess unique challenges, the Alepsis-Taura final boss can be a tricky fight. While Alepsis-Taura's attack patterns can happen in any order, they typically follow the below three attack phases:
- Phase One - Swiping mov e forward twice, shock wave attacks, and yellow-white beam or wall attacks, before trapping you in a pyramid after about a third health depletion. The Pyramid attac k throws circular horizontal and vertical beam pulses at you to dodge without sound cues. However, you only need to dodge the horizontal ring to survive.
- Phase Two - After surviving the pyramid attack, Alepsis pounds the ground or swipes with tentacle arm attacks, some of which have a noise cue.
- Phase Three - In the final phase, Alepsis throws walls that move from the edge to the center, followed by a large wall that spans the length of the arena and homing missiles. The latter wall and missiles repeat until you defeat it, where stamina and ammo can become an issue if you're not careful.
However, despite its phases, the fight is essentially a test of timing altogether. While many players have their preferred playstyles, it isn't too challenging to beat with the following strategies as per the video below showing the Alepsis-Taura Alt Kill defeat:
Learn To Time Dodges With Alepsis-Taura's Attacks And Audio Cues
You can dodge most or all of Alepsis-Taura's attacks by learning their timing, which often means listening for a high-pitched audio cue, which signals you when it's about to attack, like its swiping move which happens twice. Listen and use these audio cues to time your dodges to avoid taking unnecessary hits and preserve your health. You can learn what attacks to avoid, as typically the yellow walls or beams are the ones to dodge roll under, or sidestep. Typically, you should dodge its horizontal attacks and sidestep vertical ones. In Phase Three, you must dodge through the large wall and keep running to avoid the missiles.
Keep Distance To Avoid Shockwave, Projectile, And Tentacle Attacks
Most of Alepsis-Taura's attacks are pretty devastating, but none more so than the shockwave attack that sucks you in and can result in instant death, so keep your distance as much as possible. In Phase Two, you should also keep a good distance from the tentacle attacks as much as possible for the best chance of avoiding the ground pound ones, which suck you in like the shockwave ones. As the fight nears the end in phase three, Alepsis also shoots homing projectiles, which can kill you near-instantly if you're hit by too many at once.
Remnant 2: Stagnant Manufactory Guide
Stagnant Manufactory is a new dungeon in Remnant 2's Dark Horizons DLC, and it comes with some difficult puzzles to solve.
Lifesteal To Replenish Health
Choose a high-damage Remnant 2 weapon with Lifesteal abilities, such as the Nightfall long gun, one of the best long gun weapons in the game. Anything that helps replenish health to avoid using Relics is beneficial to preserve health and stay in the fight for longer.
Watch Out For The Edge While Running Or Dodging
There are no walls in the arena where you fight Alepsis-Taura, so be careful to watch your step. This is especially important when moving away to avoid Alepsis' shockwave attacks, as it's easy to roll off the edge if you're too busy concentrating on what the boss is doing.
