Remnant 2's main campaign takes players across multiple worlds, each of which features different stories tied together by a single goal: stopping the Root once and for all. Among these worlds is N'erud, a desolate, sci-fi hellscape that's standing on the precipice of obliteration.

In one of the possible story paths on this planet, an ominous, disembodied voice will task players with saving a race known as the Drzyr from total annihilation by finding a canister of Soul Sparks, the last vestiges of their dying race. This task is a lot simpler than it sounds, but like most things in Remnant 2, it isn't exactly easy.

Updated July 18, 2024 by Marc Santos: The main method of getting the Soul Sparks canister in Remnant 2 remains the same even after the countless patches and hotfixes the game has received since launch. All the information in this guide remains accurate, though we did add some extra pointers to clarify some things people may be confused about. Finding the Soul Sparks canister is still going to take time, especially if players manage to get a map that's difficult to navigate through.

Remnant 2: Best Archetype Traits, Ranked

The character classes, known as Archetypes, in Remnant 2 each have their own unique Traits. Here are the absolute best Traits among these Archetypes.

Remnant 2 Soul Sparks Location

  1. Reach the second open region of N'Erud.
  2. Find a vault leading underground.
  3. Grab the Soul Sparks canister.
  4. Return to the prison.

The first thing players need to do is find the second open area in N'erud by finishing the first dungeon they encounter after exiting the prison. These areas may vary from playthrough to playthrough, but the objective will stay the same. The variance between campaigns is so high that not even players with 400 hours worth of Remnant 2 playtime have seen everything the game has to offer, so not everyone might have the same issues finding Soul Sparks as others.

The Soul Sparks players are looking for are not inside any of the potential dungeons in the second area. Instead, it is hidden in a pyramid-like vault somewhere in the toxic desert. In our case, the Soul Sparks container was behind a vault with an airlock door similar to the ones inside the prison. Enter the facility and grab the Soul Spark canister in the main chamber. This usually triggers a wave of zombies to spawn — kill them all as the exit door will need time to open again.

There may be multiple vault entrances in the second open area in N'Erud. You'll know you've found the right one if the lights near the entrance are yellow.

Finding the Soul Sparks is as straightforward as it sounds, but it's made difficult by N'Erud's harsh environment. Poor visibility and similar-looking dunes of sand don't exactly help with finding the right underground bunker. The map on N'Erud is also hard to read because there are no hard walls to serve as borders, making fog of war identification that much harder.

Finding the right bunker can be very troublesome, especially for beginners who aren't used to how exploration works in this game. Check the immediate areas in front of dungeon entrances or run along the edge of the death fog in hopes of unlocking a new, undiscovered area of the map. Remnant 2's Explorer archetype is the best one to use in this part of the campaign because of its movement speed and traversal bonuses.

After finding the Soul Sparks canister, return to the prison and speak with the mysterious figure behind the glass. Or, if the Custodian is in your campaign, speak with him for an alternate storyline ending.
