New rumors point to a stealth action-adventure game being ported over to the Nintendo Switch. The game Republique was spotted directly on Nintendo's website, meaning it could show up on the hybrid console shortly.
Republique is a successfully Kickstarted game that first dropped on iOS in 2013 as a 5-part episodic series. While many gamers enjoy mobile gaming, Republique has since been ported to multiple other platforms, including VR, PS4, and Stadia; Nintendo Switch could be next.
While the page is now dead on Nintendo's official site, fans initially noticed an entire page dedicated to Republique. The fact that it is now down indicates that it likely went up too early. Before the page went down, the information claimed that Republique would cost $9.99 USD and be released on February 25, 2021. If true, Republique would be a great addition to the list of solid indie titles on the Nintendo Switch.
For a game that started out as an iOS title, Republique has ported over to consoles very well. It is likely that specifically, the Republique Remastered version will be what the Switch sees, if the rumors are true, which reviewed nicely. All 5 episodes are packed into one experience and the game was upgraded to work well as a console title. Additionally, the game has some nice talent behind it, including voice actor David Hayter, best known as the man behind the iconic Solid Snake of Metal Gear Solid.
According to The Best War Games's review of Republique Remastered in 2016, the title knows its own limits and doesn't try to be an AAA title. And if the rumors are true, $9.99 seems like a decent price for a stealth-based and tightly-wound dramatic action game for Switch players.
Republique is out now for Android, iOS, Mac, Oculus VR Headsets, PC, PS4, and Stadia.
