Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry and director of the original Resident Evil 2, left Capcom in 2006 after it closed down Clover Studio. Shortly after Clover's closure, Kamiya founded Platinum Games, and went on to direct the critically-acclaimed Bayonetta. It's been over 10 years since Kamiya worked with Capcom, but an image posted by the acclaimed developer on Instagram has fans buzzing that a reunion may be in the works.

Kamiya posted an image to his Instagram account of him standing outside the Capcom headquarters in Osaka, Japan. He shared the picture on Twitter with the caption, "Hideki Kamiya approaching Capcom..." Leaving fans to speculate if the image is just a nod to his past or something more substantial.

In the past, Kamiya has expressed interest in collaborating with Capcom on a project, and has even spoken with Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi about the possibility. If Platinum Games and Capcom agreed to work together on a project, though, it's anyone's guess as to what that project would be.

One of the most likely scenarios is that the project would be Okami 2. It's no secret that Kamiya would like to work on a sequel to Okami, and apparently already has ideas for the game. Okami has struggled with sales, but the overwhelmingly positive critical reception to the first game may be enough to convince Capcom to move forward with a sequel, and see if it can succeed commercially if given the chance.

Kamiya has also commented on new creative directions for Devil May Cry, and maybe he's visiting Capcom to lend his talent to that game. Then again, there's also the Resident Evil 2 remake that's in development, and since Kamiya was the director for the original RE2, maybe Capcom asked for his opinion on the game before it's properly revealed to the public.

Of course, Kamiya's photo could mean nothing, and it could be as simple as him being in the same area as Capcom's headquarters. Regardless, though, the post has drummed up some excitement from Kamiya's fans, and it will be interesting to see if anything materializes from it.
