One of the first challenges in the Resident Evil 2 remake is blowing up the C4 located in the West Storage Room of the Raccoon City Police Department's third floor to get the final medallion. This is necessary for players to escape from the police station and continue their survival-horror adventure, but it seems some aren't quite clear on how exactly to detonate the C4 in the game.

Before Resident Evil 2 players can worry about blowing up the C4, they need to collect two specific items. The first is the detonator, which is located on the first floor of the police station, on the west side. It can be found in the room sandwiched between the Operations Room to the north and the Records Room to the south. To get into the room, players need to use the bolt cutters on the door in the Operations Room, and then they should be able to grab the detonator with little issue.

The next item that Resident Evil 2  players need to collect before they can blow up the C4 is the battery, which is found in the S.T.A.R.S. Office. Using the Valve Handle from the East Office to turn off the steam blocking the way, players can reach the S.T.A.R.S. Office through the Shower Room on the second floor of the police station. Once inside the office, they can safely examine a portable radio to get the battery.

With these two items in tow, players can combine them in their inventory and then use them on the C4 in the West Storage Room. However, it's best to be properly armed before doing this for a couple of reasons. For one, detonating the C4 will attract enemies, including a Licker monster and a zombie on an initial playthrough. Secondly, players should also have their first encounter with the Mr. X tyrant around this time as well.

The Mr. X tyrant is a virtually unstoppable, hulking monstrosity that relentlessly stalks Resident Evil 2 players throughout the Raccoon City Police Department. While there are ways to slow him down, like shooting him in the face a lot, the best course of action when dealing with Mr. X is to try to outmaneuver him and run away. Of course, this is sometimes easier said than done, but at any rate, players should make sure that they've already collected the first two medallions before doing this because going back for them will be much harder with Mr. X lumbering around.

After detonating the C4, Resident Evil 2 players can collect the third and final medallion and continue the story. However, they may have noticed the Armory located in the back of the S.T.A.R.S. Office when they were searching for the battery. As it turns out, the Armory holds the magnum, but players will have to come back later if they hope to retrieve it.
