- The port will feature quality-of-life improvements, modern system compatibility, and full controller support.
GOG has recently announced that its DRM-free PC port of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be available on September 25. Resident Evil 3’s release on the popular PC gaming store marks the first time the whole original Resident Evil trilogy will be available on the platform, which is excellent news for old-school fans of the franchise.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was originally released in 1999 and, despite not originally being meant to be a full sequel, is often cited among the best Resident Evil games by fans who prefer the older games in the series. Bringing back protagonist Jill Valentine from the first game, Resident Evil 3 was no longer confined to the small spaces of the Spencer Mansion, but it took Jill through an adventure that sprawled around a big portion of Raccoon City. To make the experience even more different from previous installments, the game’s story focused on Nemesis, a new villain who pursued Jill, attacking her during specific parts of the story.

Now, GOG revealed that the PC port for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be released on the platform on September 25 at 8:00 AM UTC. The company has already confirmed that this DRM-free version of the game will come with a variety of quality-of-life improvements, compatibility with modern systems, and full controller support. The title’s graphics, however, will likely remain unchanged, as this is not a remaster.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Will Be Available on GOG on September 25
While GOG still did not disclose what exactly all the changes in the port will be, it’s possible to speculate about them. If the release of Resident Evil 1 and 2 on GOG earlier this year is an indication, these quality-of-life improvements could include enhanced save game managers, more rending options, audio volume, fixing a few bugs, and more. Also, it’s possible that some special modes could be unlocked at the beginning of the game.
Despite being released over two decades ago, Resident Evil 3 remains fondly remembered by fans. The remake of Resident Evil 3 was a very polarizing game when it was launched in 2020, but both Jill and Nemesis remain two fan-favorite characters.
Active Modding for Resident Evil 3 Sign of Game's Popularity
Another sign of the game’s popularity is that the original Resident Evil 3 is still gaining mods. In one mod released last year, gamers were able to play as Nemesis in Resident Evil 3. The mod came with two game modes: one in which the main character would be replaced by the villain, but everything would continue to happen as normal, and a more sandbox mode.
