Resident Evil 4 remake follows Leon S. Kennedy on his journey to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham, from the clutches of a murderous cult. Shortly into his mission, he and his escorts become separated, leaving Leon to search for Ashley on his own. As if finding Ashley wasn't already challenging enough, the monstrous beings roaming this land are hellbent on stopping anyone who tries to rescue her.

Depending on the player, it will take approximately fifteen to twenty hours to complete all of these chapters, but those familiar with the original may complete it even faster.

Resident Evil 4 Remake has a total of sixteen chapters. While playing through these chapters, the player will be required to explore the three main areas in the game: The Village, The Castle, and The Island, each of which is home to crucial plot points as well as engaging side quests.

Upon completing a chapter, the player will be given the chance to save the game, customize their loadout, and inspect their overall performance. Seeing as players won't always have the luxury of saving their game, they should be sure to make use of the save feature after completing each chapter.

There are several points in Resident Evil 4 remake's story that, once passed, prevent Leon from returning to previous areas. The Merchant will sometimes inform the player when they are about to cross a point of no return, but he won't always be around to provide such warnings.

Chapter 4 Point of No Return

Upon defeating El Gigante in Chapter 4, Leon will be required to head to the Church in order to progress the story. The way back will then become blocked, preventing him from returning to The Lake.

Toward the climax of Chapter 5, Leon will need to cross a bridge leading to a dilapidated house, in which he will need to fend off a large group of enemies. Proceeding through the giant doors further down the path leads to a pretty hectic boss fight that, once completed, will force Leon to proceed to The Island. Shortly into Chapter 16, Leon will be forced to face the final boss of Resident Evil 4 remake. The battle will begin if Leon enters the elevator located just after the Merchant's shop. If players wish to explore The Island a little more before completing the game, they should steer clear of this elevator.

If players complete Resident Evil 4 remake before realizing they missed out on something, they can always play through the game on New Game+, where everything aside from Key Items and side quest progress carry over.
