Resident Evil 4 remake follows Agent Leon S. Kennedy on his mission to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham, from the clutches of an unhinged cult. Shortly after beginning his mission, Leon arrives at a small village crawling with infected townspeople, and in order to progress the story, he needs to fight.
There are countless ways to take down enemies in RE4 remake, but Leon's melee attacks can be extremely effective too. Though they may not be as powerful as the weapons in Leon's arsenal, their power to briefly subdue enemies can be very helpful. The suplex melee attack is arguably one of Leon's most comical moves, but performing requires some pretty specific inputs.
What is the Suplex in Resident Evil 4 Remake?
Leon's suplex attack is an extremely useful combat move that can be used to take down staggered enemies. When used, Leon will grab his opponent, fall backward, and plunge his enemy's head directly into the ground.
When the attack animation ends, the enemy will be left momentarily staggered, allowing Leon to deal some additional damage to them if they are still alive.
How to Suplex Enemies in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Upon beginning a fight in Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon will need to rely on his firearms, knives, and explosives in order to survive. The Combat Knife can be great for when players wish to get up close and personal, but Leon can also kick and suplex his enemies in certain situations.
Upon staggering an enemy, a prompt will appear, allowing Leon to perform a unique melee attack. While standing in front of an enemy and activating the prompt, Leon will roundhouse kick the staggered enemy to the floor, but if he is standing directly behind the enemy, he will grab them and suplex them to the ground.
In order for this prompt to appear, Leon will first need to stagger an enemy by dealing some damage to them or by attacking them in a certain spot. The best way to make this prompt appear is to shoot at an enemy's leg with a pistol until they fall to their knees. It is also possible to stagger enemies by shooting them in the head but aiming at their legs is a much more reliable method.
Then, so long as Leon has room to do so, he can walk behind the enemy he just staggered, and players can press the melee button to suplex the enemy.
The more the player progresses through each chapter of Resident Evil 4 remake, the more they will be faced with stronger enemies. Some of these enemies remain staggered for exceptionally short periods, so players will need to be quick if they want Leon to suplex them.
Performing a suplex in Resident Evil 4 remake isn't overly complicated, but getting Leon into the position needed to activate it can be a little tricky, especially while fighting enemies in narrow hallways or on small platforms. If the player fails to perform a suplex during their first attempt, they should lure the enemy they're targeting to a more open area and try again.
Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
