Once Resident Evil Village players manage to score A Rank or higher on The Bloody Village, they will unlock the second of the new stages added in the Winters' Expansion. This second stage is called The Bloody River, and each area in the stage provides players a unique challenge to overcome.
While there is no tough final boss like in The Mad Village, Resident Evil Village players will need to play smart and choose the right character if they hope to get a good score on this stage. Here is how players can achieve SSS Rank on The Bloody River.
How To Get SSS Rank in The Bloody River
As with any stage in Mercenaries, the best way to get SSS Rank in The Bloody River is to avoid having a combo break at all costs. It takes some planning and memorizing of enemy spawn points, but it is possible to go through each area of The Bloody River without breaking a kill combo. There are also several animals during The Bloody River that players can kill to extend and refresh their combo, so players should make sure not to miss them.
How Many Enemies Are in The Bloody River?
Unlike the previous stage, The Bloody River has four areas in it. Each area has a set amount of enemies that Resident Evil Village players need to kill in order to spawn the goal and move on to the next area. The amount of enemies and kills needed are as follows:
- Area 1: Defeat 22 Enemies (29 in Area 1)
- Area 2: Defeat 20 Enemies (32 in Area 2)
- Area 3: Defeat 18 Enemies (18 in Area 3)
- Area 4: Defeat 70 Enemies (100 in Area 4)
While it is important to kill as many enemies as possible, players do not have to kill every single one to get SSS Rank. Breaking a combo to chase after a couple of enemies that are missing will result in only being able to get SS Rank or lower since keeping a combo up is much more important.
Which Character To Play As
With the release of the Winter's Expansion, players are no longer stuck playing as Ethan in Mercenaries. While Heisenberg and Dimitrescu have to be unlocked, Chris Redfield is unlocked by default. Even before upgrading his weapons, Chris is extremely overpowered. His weapons do colossal amounts of damage, and this can be increased even further with his Onslaught ability.
As if that wasn't enough, players are also able to purchase the Target Locator that Chris used at the end of the main story of Resident Evil Village. So with that in mind, Chris makes it much easier for players to achieve SSS Rank on The Bloody River.
How to Get a Good Score in Area 4
The fourth and final area of The Bloody River is challenging. Not only does it require players to kill a minimum of 70 enemies, but also the area is very large. In the final area, Resident Evil Village players will have access to a majority of Castle Dimtrescu excluding the basement.
It is easy to take a wrong turn and break a kill combo, so players will need to make sure that they memorize where enemies are to avoid a combo break. If players did well on the previous areas and avoid combo breaking as much as possible, they should have no trouble achieving SSS Rank in The Bloody River.
Resident Evil Village is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
