Now, Andi from ScreenFire Germany (via ComicBook) has revealed that Capcom intends to release Resident Evil 9 between January 1 and March 31, 2026, and suggested that the game will be officially announced during Summer Game Fest, which will start on June 6. While Andi is not a leaker with a prominent track record, his remarks were acknowledged by Aesthetic Gamer, also known as Dusk Golem, one of the most important Resident Evil 9 leakers, who claims that he believes Andi.

When Will Resident Evil 9 be Released?

Leaks indicate that Resident Evil 9 could be out between January and March 2026.

A few months ago, Dusk Golem also claimed that Resident Evil 9 would be a big reinvention for the franchise. According to the prominent leaker, the changes implemented by the upcoming horror game will be on the same level as Resident Evil 4 and 7, as the project is very ambitious and will try new things.

Gamers who expected Resident Evil 9 to be an open-world game based on previous leaks could be disappointed, though. Dusk Golem recently revealed that Resident Evil 9 had a scrapped open-world multiplayer concept. RE9’s development started soon after Resident Evil 7 was released, and initially, it seemed like the title would underperform, which affected the development of the future sequel. However, this changed due to Resident Evil 7’s long-tail sales, so the original idea to create something significantly different from RE7 also changed.
