Rumors continue to tease the presence of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem, and the latest alleged leaks give fresh insights into what fans can expect from the gameplay for both confirmed protagonist Grace Ashcroft and the possibly returning Leon. Resident Evil Requiem is slated to launch for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 27, 2026, but the upcoming Capcom booth and showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2025 could finally confirm Leon's role in the next RE installment.

Resident Evil Requiem May Be Stuck in a Catch-22 After the Recent Leak

Audiences have already been given an early look at Capcom's Tokyo Game Show lineup, which includes titles like Pragmata, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Resident Evil Requiem. While the trade show itself will begin on September 25, Capcom has confirmed that it will be airing a special broadcast on September 24, which includes details on "all the latest Capcom news." With new alleged leaks of an early look at Resident Evil Requiem gameplay ramping up hype for this livestream, many are now expecting a major announcement to finally reveal Leon.

New Rumored Gameplay Details for Resident Evil Requiem

Popular video game leaker DuskGolem once again reiterated the return of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem while offering up new gameplay details. According to DuskGolem, Leon's gameplay will be set in 2020, while "most (but not all) of" Grace's story will be set in 2028. Leon's gameplay will allegedly be more action-focused than Grace's traditional horror experience, but this heavier action with Leon will have fewer "over-the-top" situations like the Salazar's statue scene in Resident Evil 4. DuskGolem also teases that Leon will have a vehicle that he will use to travel through one of several large levels, whereas Grace's gameplay will feature an open-world design. Both characters will supposedly include plenty of "horror [and] atmospherics," with Resident Evil Requiem fully distinguishing itself from previous entries featuring Leon.

Resident Evil 9's Release Window Leaks Are a Double-Edged Sword

While DuskGolem and other leakers have shared accurate information in the past about the characters and story in Resident Evil Requiem, it is key to note that these remain rumors until officially confirmed by Capcom. Whether that confirmation will come during Tokyo Game Show 2025 is yet to be seen, but if previous TGS events are anything to go by, audiences may want to tune in just in case a big reveal does happen.

Interested fans can stay tuned for any official updates from Capcom's Tokyo Game Show 2025 showcase and, subsequently, any potential announcements for Resident Evil Requiem.
