The recently surfaced Resident Evil Requiem image showing Leon S. Kennedy in a unique look has been shot down as fake. Ever since the rumors of the fan-favorite character returning with Resident Evil Requiem first broke out, there has been constant speculation about his potential involvement in the upcoming game.
Resident Evil Requiem is one of the industry's most anticipated games. Scheduled to roll out on February 27, 2026, it features Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Resident Evil: Outbreak's Alyssa Ashcroft, as a central character. In addition, there have been rumors of Resident Evil Requiem incorporating Leon S. Kennedy as another playable character, stoking excitement among fans of the series protagonist. Most recently, Leon's appearance in the new game was also claimed to have been leaked, which has now been debunked.
If Leaks Are to Be Believed, Resident Evil Requiem is About to Be Bittersweet
A new leak from an established source claims that Resident Evil Requiem may sadly be the final chapter for one of its most beloved inclusions.
A Resident Evil Requiem leak that depicted Leon sporting an eyepatch and also showed a two-headed Licker has been debunked by Dusk Golem. In a Twitter post, they called the image "fake" and shared that they thought the dubious nature of the leaked image was "obvious." In the comments, some fans expressed relief at hearing the news, whereas fans of Leon's new makeover said that they were "disappointed" by the revelation. Another Resident Evil fan stated that, even though the leak may be fake, the person behind it did a "good job" in making the character models look authentic.
While Leon's eyepatch look may have been a fake, it doesn't necessarily rule out his rumored part in Resident Evil Requiem's story. In fact, the person who debunked the latest leak has previously claimed to be "100% sure" about Capcom's title featuring the recurring character as its main lead. If true, this would mark Leon's return to the mainline story for the first time since 2012's Resident Evil 6. Overall, the popular hero's last appearance in the series came in 2023 in Resident Evil 4, the remake of the 2005 original.
In the meantime, there is a different Resident Evil Requiem leak that has been gaining traction in recent weeks. Following the confirmation of the game's Switch 2 port, there is once again growing talk of a PS4 version being in development as well. Given that there is a considerable number of gamers who are still on the previous-gen PlayStation console, such a decision may not really come as a surprise.
