Fans may have gotten a glimpse at Leon Kennedy's new look in Resident Evil Requiem, thanks to a newly leaked image. Rumors of the beloved character's return to the RE franchise have been swirling for nearly as long as players have known about the game, but now, things may be getting more concrete. While Capcom has yet to confirm whether Leon is in Resident Evil Requiem, a fresh leak suggests he's back and looks different from his last appearance.
As the release date draws closer, Capcom has slowly revealed more details about what Resident Evil fans can expect from the upcoming entry. In a surprise trailer during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Resident Evil Requiem showed off its new villain and it reaffirmed that the game would again feature the Umbrella Corporation. However, Umbrella is not the only potentially returning series staple fans are anxious to learn more about, and this latest leak may add fuel to the fire.
Resident Evil Requiem PS4 Version Possible
It seems as though a PlayStation 4 version of the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem is potentially in the cards.
Leaked Resident Evil Requiem Document Shows Off New Leon Kennedy Design
A leaked image of an internal Resident Evil Requiem document that has made its way around Reddit and 4chan shows off a redesigned Leon Kennedy, looking noticeably older and sporting an eye patch. While all official promotions from Capcom so far have focused on Grace Ashcroft as the game's protagonist, many expect Leon to play a prominent role in the title. Noteworthy leaker Dusk Golem has gone so far as to say they're "100%" sure Leon is Resident Evil Requiem's main character, with the game bouncing between playable characters, potentially as it switches between action and horror sequences. Still, while the news of Leon being in the game may not be anything new, this is the first real look fans have gotten at how he might appear in it.
In the image, Leon looks fairly roughed up compared to his other appearances. That's understandable, given where Requiem falls in the broader Resident Evil timeline, but there could also be a deeper meaning to it. There's talk that Resident Evil Requiem could be Leon's "send-off" game, with Capcom potentially killing off the beloved character to finally bring his story to an end. Leon's supposed in-game model looking well past his prime would make sense in light of that story arc, but any such takeaways are purely speculation at this point.
It seems increasingly likely that Leon does make some kind of appearance in the game and that Capcom is keeping quiet about it to build up to a big surprise. Of course, there's no way to know for sure until an official announcement. Capcom will show off Resident Evil Requiem at the Tokyo Game Show later in September 2025, so there may not be a long wait for more information.
