Rick and Morty is back, and the next episode promises to be as funny, smart, and creative as the rest of the show. When the animated sitcom premiered in 2013, it was clear that the story of a scientist named Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith would be a big hit. It was also clear that the show could last for ten or even more seasons since their adventures are so much fun to follow along with. While some seasons are less interesting and memorable, and some would say that later seasons have lost some magic, season 8 has been as entertaining as ever.

The next episode of Rick and Morty will feature a familiar location that fans always enjoy seeing and promises a unique storyline involving the two beloved yet very different characters. So, when will episode 3 air, and how can fans watch it?

How To Watch Rick And Morty Season 8, Episode 3 "The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly"

Fans can watch Rick and Morty season 8, episode 3, "The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly" on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at 11 p.m. E.T. On Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network.

The official description reads:

"Some guys wanna rebuild the citadel, broh; seems like a bad idea, broh; yeehaw stuff, broh."

It sounds like the upcoming episode will feature The Citadel, also called The Citadel of Ricks, which has been an important part of Rick and Morty for several seasons now. The Citadel of Ricks is a place where Rick and Mortys can be protected when groups like The Galatic Foundation are after them.

Rick and Morty season 8 is doing a great job focusing on beloved characters and allowing some of the show's best sci-fi concepts to shine. Episode 2, "Valkyrick," was about Space Beth, a clone of Beth (Sarah Chalke) who fans know and love. Episode 3 will see the return of The Citadel, and as the description revealed, it's going to be rebuilt.

Since nothing goes well in Rick and Morty's world, and fans would never want it any other way, it seems likely that Rick will run into some problems while fixing up The Citadel. Rick is the most fun to watch when he tries to solve an issue through his creative scientific inventions and ends up making things worse, and it sounds like that will happen in the upcoming episode.

Despite a season 8 teaser that wasn't the most exciting, the past few episodes have been received well by fans, and there's no doubt that it will be fun to see The Citadel again.

The Rick and Morty season 1 premiere, "Summer of All Fears," told a funny and clever story about Summer Smith (Spencer Grammer), and fans appreciated the flashbacks and storyline. In a Reddit thread about the memorable episode, Redditor @PassengerHoliday9058 wrote:

"Honestly, it was an incredible opener. I was tearing up at some of the flashbacks tbh. Can’t wait for the next episodes."

Redditor @iloveelliotsmith added:

"The premiere was so good, I think it sets a good precedent for the rest of the season."

Redditor @Salt_Principle_6672 also enjoyed the characters and plot and liked seeing evil Morty. The fan said:

"Honestly I really loved it. Interesting sci-fi premise, cool character development. I like how Morty acted exactly like evil Morty did in his episode. It's so interesting."

It can definitely be tough to please viewers when a show has been on the air as long as Rick and Morty has. However, the current season has already proven that solid and unique characters, creative and sometimes silly storylines, and a premise that is as compelling as ever will keep fans interested.
