Xbox Game Pass has been one of the best deals in all of gaming. For $14.99 a month, players can sign up for the Ultimate Game Pass, which provides a plethora of games in addition to an Xbox Live subscription. The service has seen many games come to it, including some that are available through Game Pass on the same day they launch. This Fall, The Riftbreaker will be joining the ranks of games to be released on Game Pass at launch.
The announcement came in the form of a gameplay trailer posted on the Xbox YouTube channel. Along with the day 1 release announcement on the platform, it was also declared that The Riftbreaker would be playable on all 3 of the services devices: Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The announcement was met with tremendous positivity from fans of the service.
The Riftbreaker is a described strategy/base-building/survival/hack and slash type of game reminiscent of HELLDIVERS. Players will take on the persona of Captain Ashley S. Novak, who is tasked with the duty of building a base on the distant planet of Galatea 37. This base will serve as a way for Novak to return to Earth and for further colonization of the galaxy. Captain Novak commands a mech that will assist her in all of the duties that are required, including building, gathering, and even combat.
The game has interesting transitions from incredibly fast and furious combat to meticulous base-building and resource-gathering phases. The gameplay is shown from the top-down perspective, along with exploring a foreign world, which is where players will definitely see the direct comparison to the popular HELLDIVERS. However, the base-building and gathering are where the game splits off.
Xbox Game Pass continues to provide players with numerous options for a low price. This has been seen with other games being put on the service at launch, such as Outriders. Along with an expansive library of other playable games across the consoles, cloud, and PC, players have gravitated towards the service, which continues to grow. Even when games leave Game Pass, players can purchase them at a discounted rate.
The Riftbreaker is set for a fall release due to a delay of its original target date. Fans of base-building, strategy, and top-down hack and slash will definitely want to check out the title. With a day one release on the Xbox Game Pass, subscribers will be able to dive in right from the start.
The Riftbreaker will be released Fall 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
