For players trying to figure out just how to wait and pass time in Rise of the Ronin, let this guide show you the way.
Like a Dragon: Ishin and Rise of the Ronin are Two Sides of the Same Coin
Rise of the Ronin and Like a Dragon: Ishin follow a common trend within the gaming industry, but take very different approaches with their execution.
How to Wait and Pass Time in Rise of the Ronin
As the game progresses through the main story, players will soon be let loose into an open world with plenty of things to find and people to help. On occasion, opportunities may require players to either come back at night or use the sunlight to kick things off. However, it can be frustrating to wait for the game to move through time in-game.
This is where the waiting mechanic comes into play, and it only becomes available once players are on the main story mission, Follow Your Blade Twin. Eventually, Ryoma Sakamoto will meet you at the Longhouse and pass you the Pocket Watch. This nifty gadget is the key to passing time in Rise of the Ronin, making it possible to decide just exactly when you can take action.
To pass time, simply assign the Pocket Watch to one of the D-pad shortcuts and use it. This will bring up a menu that lets you decide which period of the day you want to wait until—Morning, Noon, or Night. Make your choice, and the game will speed up the process of time passing, letting you be exactly where you need to be at the right time.
Similarly, the Longhouse will also have the option of taking a rest to pass time as well, so be sure to make use of the feature, which is found in the same menu as jumping into co-op play.
