Grow a Garden has tons of fruit mutations that increase your profits, and the list keeps growing with every weekly update. In the first part of the Prehistoric update, we got unique ones like Amber, which can evolve over time and raise your multiplier.
Now, with the 1.14.0 update, a new mutation called Tempestuous has joined the game, along with the Infected and Friendbound variants. This one’s a little different, though. It’s a stack-based mutation, which means you’ll need to line up certain variants to unlock it. Here’s how to get the Tempestuous Mutation in Grow a Garden.

How to Get Tempestuous Mutation in Grow a Garden
To get the Tempestuous Mutation in Grow a Garden, you’ll need to stack three mutations on a single fruit: Sandy, Windstruck, and Twisted. For those unsure, each of these comes from a different weather event, and here’s a quick rundown:
- Twisted mutation can appear during the Tornado weather event, or you can trigger it using the Pterodactyl pet.
- Windstruck mutation only shows up when Windy or Gale weather is active.
- Sandy mutation triggers during a Sandstorm when the dust touches your fruits.
To combine all three on one fruit, stay online during these weather events and let your fruits absorb the variants naturally. Or, use pets like the Pterodactyl for Twisted. Once all three are applied, your fruit will gain the Tempestuous Mutation.

Is The Tempestuous Mutation Worth it in Grow a Garden
Tempestuous has a unique 19x multiplier in Grow a Garden, meaning fruits with this mutation can sell for 19 times more than usual. While it’s not the strongest out there, it still beats over 23 other variants, including Amber, Oldamber, and Cloudtouched from past updates.
That said, it removes the Windstruck and Twisted multipliers (2x and 5x) from those fruits, giving you an easy 8x jump. But since you're getting a 19x return, it’s definitely worth it. Plus, the best part is that you can still pair Tempestuous with the Sandy mutation to make your fruits even more valuable.
