Limited-edition versions of Xbox controllers and the Series X itself are reportedly on the way to ring in the release of Doom: The Dark Ages. Fans can seemingly look forward to getting their hands on not only two new exclusive Xbox controllers based on the new game but also a new The Dark Ages-themed Series X limited edition console wrap. While unconfirmed, these rumors make sense, considering Doom: The Dark Ages will be one of Microsoft's biggest first-party releases this year.

The Doom franchise is a very interesting one to go back to and not only look at but play, with the series managing to reinvent itself for modern audiences with its 2016 reboot. While Doom was already known for its violent gameplay and hellish enemies, modern-day Doom games like 2016's reboot and its sequel, Doom: Eternal, found ways to expand and build on the classic Doom formula in major ways. Doom: The Dark Ages seeks to do this once again, this time taking inspiration from medieval times. To celebrate the upcoming game, several limited-edition wraps are reportedly dropping for the Xbox platform.

Dealabs reports that Bethesda has several limited-edition products in store for Doom: The Dark Ages' release, including two different Xbox controllers and a Series X console wrap. The two controller versions include a Dark Ages-themed Elite Series 2 wireless controller as well as a regular wireless controller. These items fall under a new wave of limited edition products referred to as the Doom: The Dark Ages Limited Edition Collection and will reportedly be more widely available than Microsoft's other limited edition products seen in recent years.

Microsoft will reportedly even sell these products in Europe, though the console wrap and Elite controller will only be available at the official Microsoft store. The regular controller will be temporarily exclusive to the Microsoft Store before making its way onto retail store shelves sometime this year. Microsoft has been dropping more and more exclusive items inspired by big releases lately. The Dark Ages is no different, with one version of the game including a large Doom Slayer statue.

Doom: The Dark Ages marks a very interesting and important chapter in the FPS franchise's history, taking players into new territory, both in terms of its story and its gameplay. The reveal trailer made it clear combat is being tweaked in The Dark Ages, with the Doom Slayer being given a new shield and other weapons. The often-sleek city environments seen in the previous two modern Doom games are swapped for mud-stained castles and cobblestone roads. The game has already created a significant amount of buzz, with Doom: The Dark Ages officially releasing on May 15, 2025.
