The second and third installments in the Halo series could be getting Campaign Evolved-style remakes, according to one leaker. Months of rumors and speculation spoiled the surprise that Combat Evolved would be getting a remake to mark its 25-year anniversary, but now it seems Microsoft isn't stopping there. If this latest leak is correct, the rest of the original Halo trilogy will also get new life in the coming years.
Halo Studios officially unveiled Halo: Campaign Evolved at the 2025 Halo World Championships on October 24, confirming what many had already believed to be true. The first game in the series that largely popularized shooters on consoles is getting a full remake, and it will also come to PS5. After Campaign Evolved releases in 2026, though, there could be more to come.
Most Exciting Features Confirmed For Halo: Campaign Evolved
Halo: Campaign Evolved is bringing the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC with a remake that adds exciting new features!
Leaker Says Halo 2 and 3 Will Also Get Campaign-Only Remakes
On October 30, the Halo Leaks Twitter account posted that Halo 2 and Halo 3 would follow in Campaign Evolved's footsteps. Like the CE remake, these games will reportedly launch without PvP multiplayer, only letting fans play through the campaign. Similarly, the post claims they will be full remakes, not a remaster like Halo 2 Anniversary, and will include sprint, which is a somewhat divisive mechanic among Halo purists. Halo Leaks also claims a multiplayer experience is coming in the form of Halo 7, something the account previously mentioned when it accurately predicted the Halo: CE remake's inclusion of sprint and other "modern gameplay mechanics."
The inclusion of sprint and exclusion of multiplayer may not be surprising in light of Campaign Evolved making the same choices, but they are disappointing for some fans. Some say Halo 3 had the series' best multiplayer, and Halo 2 was the first to introduce online battles to the series. There's still a chance that there could be some amount of multiplayer in the form of co-op, as Campaign Evolved lets players work through the story together. For now, though, the specifics are uncertain, and it may be some time before Halo Studios confirms anything, given how recent the CE reveal was.
While Microsoft has only confirmed a remake of the first Halo game so far, it has offered some insight into the series' future. Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard revealed that future Halo games will be available on PlayStation, so if the Halo 2 and 3 remakes are real, they'll be available for a wider player base. That would also apply to the rumored Halo 7, but for now, that game lacks official confirmation or a release window, too.
