Summary
- Dan Heng may be getting a new form in update 3.0, which differs from the previous special path.
- A new form might follow the Path of Remembrance, focusing on supporting summons.
- Recent updates hint at a shift in meta from Break effect to a summon-focused playstyle.
According to multiple leaks, a popular Honkai: Star Rail character might get a new form in the foreseeable future. Since its release, Honkai: Star Rail has mostly followed a pattern of releasing two limited five-star characters per update, one for each banner cycle.
The most recent roster additions include the fan-favorite Sunday, who was part of the first banner cycle of update 2.7, and Fugue, a new Fire-Nihility character currently featured on the limited banner. Unlike other popular HoYoverse titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail grants new forms to its existing characters and introduces them as new playable units.
One of the most recent examples of an older character receiving a new form is the four-star character Herta, who is confirmed to get a more powerful five-star version in update 3.0. One of the most credible leakers in the Honkai: Star Rail community, named Seele Leaks, previously hinted that a popular four-star unit, Dan Heng, would either get a skin or a new form, better known as a Special Path. Recent leaks have revealed that Dan Heng will get a different form, which might seem unusual considering that this character already received a Special Path in the past in the form of Honkai: Star Rail's Imbibitor Lunae. Some fans don't seem as surprised, claiming that it makes sense for him to get a new form, since he and March 7th are essentially the main characters alongside the Trailblazer.
Honkai: Star Rail - Dan Heng New Form Expectations
Dan Heng's Imbibitor Lunae is much different from his original four-star form as it features a completely different path. Imbibitor Lunae's Destruction Path makes him a much more offensive character, and he is still considered an S-tier DPS unit in Honkai: Star Rail. Many fans suggest that Dan Heng's next form should follow the Path of Remembrance, a brand-new class that is expected to arrive in the upcoming update 3.0.
The only two confirmed characters to follow this path are Aglaea and the new version of the Trailblazer. While the sample size is still small, it seems like Honkai: Star Rail's Remembrance characters will have kits that revolve around deploying and supporting on-field summons. A portion of the player base has been asking HoYoverse to shift the meta from the Break effect, and it seems like the new go-to playstyle will rely on summons.
This was also hinted at in some previously released characters like Sunday, whose supportive abilities also enable summons. At the moment, there is no official information about Dan Heng's new form. The only confirmed detail is that he won't arrive in the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0, as HoYoverse revealed that this update will feature Herta and Aglaea as the only new five-star units.
